LETO LETO is a major player on the Polish contemporary art scene. The work shown by the gallery is vigorously expressive, introverted and even brutal at times.

Leto Gallery is a major player on the Polish contemporary art scene. Throughout unique choices of its founder – Marta Kolakowska, the gallery established its position as a place of cooperation, education and promotion of the millennial generation of artist, those who mostly came of age after the fall of communism in 1989. Their work is expressive, introverted, brutal and even harsh. We do believe

that our greatest resource is the human one. At Leto Gallery we believe that at the end of the day it is all about building strong connections to people and being honest with what we are doing. And by default have some fun in the meantime.

Until 16.08.2026

If you’re in Sopot during the summer holidays, be sure to visit the State Art Gallery in Sopot () currently hosting two exhibitions by our artists – Marcin Janusz (Marcin Janusz) and Xawery Wolski (Xawery Wolski). „Storm”, an exhibition by Marcin Janusz, tells the story of a world in a state of “in-between” – one that constantly losesand regains its balance, one that is in perpetual motion. The artist presents the world in a fairy-tale-like manner, rooted in myth and imagination, inviting viewers into their ownreflections.

The build-up of tension, a quiet unease without words, movement between disintegration and renewal – thisprocess becomes a metaphor for contemporary reality: migration, emotions, climate anxiety, but also encounter, exchange, and rebirth. Nature here is not merely a backdropor an atmospheric phenomenon – it is an active force, co-creating the inner and outer landscape of contemporaryhumanity.

The artist guides the viewer through three realms – water, ice, and desert heat – revealing different rhythms of loss and transformation. Boldly experimenting with materials such as sugar, resin, and earth, he creates works that are not onlyseen but experienced through all the senses. It is anexperience of the “here and now,” rooted in the past and open to a future we do not yet know.

If you’re in Sopot during the summer holidays, be sure to visit the State Art Gallery in Sopot () currently hosting two exhibitions by the artists from our gallery – Xawery Wolski (Xawery Wolski) and Marcin Janusz (Marcin Janusz). The exhibition is inspired by the fascinating biography of Xawery Wolski. For 30 years, the artist traveled and lived across different continents. Educated in Poland, France, and New York, he emigrated from Poland in the mid-1980s. He first moved to Provence, then to Peru, and later to Mexico, where he spent 23 years. He also traveled and created works in Asian countries including Thailand, Vietnam, India, Birma, Indonesia, and South Korea […]. The exhibition is curated by Eulalia Domanowska.

We are pleased to announce that the film „Memory of Glaciers” by Angelika Markul (Angelika Markul) will be screened as part of the Hellerlecht Festival (lel_museumhellerlecht) in Detmold on July 3–5.

„Memory of Glaciers” is a myth at the confluence of science and fiction, the first component of a trilogy on the origin and existence of Man until his evolution. The film’s starting point is the discovery of the Churyumov–Gerasimenko comet, which might contain an explanation of the origin of life on Earth. The video installation recounts the tragic melting of a glacier in the south of Patagonia, evoking an amputation of a gangrened body. At the heart of these organic rocks-comet and glaciers-birth and death are preserved in equal fashion. Angelika Markul reveals the secrets they hold (real or fictional) through images tinted with mystery.

(Fragment tekstu Agnieszki Jankowskiej-Marzec)
