The main thing of our project is establishing a communication between an author and a viewer. Several thousands of films are submitted to an ordinary festival.

Millions of movies are shot and thousands of short film festivals are held in the world every year. So various good films can be neglected for whatever reason. Often selecting probability is look like winning in a lottery. As a result a filmmaker loses a feedback. It is a paradox that no one can hear you in an age of Internet! The mainstream culture prefer attractions and casual viewing. This a re

ason we’d created this project of “unfiltered cinema”. It aims to promote unpurified through the festivals films. We collect films and we are at the pains to show programmes to wide audience in art-centres, cinemas schools as often as possible. We compile comments of viewers, cinephiles and experts and send it to filmmaker.

From totalitarian absurdity to intimate family drama, from national borders to the borders of one’s own body — this program brings together films in which reality loses its monolithic certainty. The characters face the ground giving way beneath their feet: whether it’s a burnt-out lightbulb, a mysterious piece of cheese, a stranger in the forest, or their own trauma. This year, NoFilter Kino invites viewers to take Odysseus’ place during the festival, who ordered to be tied to the mast and have his ears plugged with wax so that he could not hear the songs of the sirens.

Adorno and Horkheimer interpreted ‘The Odyssey and the Sirens’ as the birth of the Western subject: tied to the mast, he hears but cannot act; his sailors, consumers of mass culture, whose ears are also plugged with wax, on the contrary, act but cannot hear. We invite you to break down the walls of hierarchy and relive the experience of Odysseus and his crew, so that you can make your own choices.

The film festival will take place from April 23 to May 4 in Warsaw, Vilnius, Hamburg, Helsinki and Minsk. Together with the authors, the organizers propose to enter the dark territory of cinema in order to face the choice of whether to cross the boundary of the screen or to leave it.

The diverse thematic programs of the XI Nefiltravanae Kino include more than fifty films from all over the world, which address not only images but also people's feelings and thoughts.

On the one hand, cinematic means of expression are very dynamic. For example, films become obsolete relatively quickly. New trends and manifestos emerge which also soon find their way into the archives of history, such as Dogma-95. On the other hand, cinema can also be stable. Some codes and conventions, clichés are fixed for a long time while others seem to remain forever. Mass appeal, large box office receipts and successful distribution contribute to the conservatism of artistic expressive means.
