June in the studio went like this: it was busy. But we also made time to play.
It was lots of throwing, mainly restock for matchin’ but also I managed to remake some yunomi cups and mugs no.1 for our shop. I finished some really beautiful katakuchi bowls for OROMATCHA with ash glaze developed especially for this project. While kiln was firing I returned to suminagashi printing, I still have some rice paper leftover from Japan, so I wanted to put it in good use. If I make some more of these prints I would like to share them with you, I don’t know how yet, maybe with a proper show or just online. We also fired cups made during kurinuki workshop at Galeria Miejska Arsenał (one is still waiting for pickup!). And around this time restocked TEASOME specialty tea & matcha with matcha bowls and sakura teacups. For heatwave at the end of the month we evacuated to Stockholm and saw Wilhelm Kåge and Shōji Hamada exhibition at National Museum, but it deserves a separate post. We saw movies, theatre shows, concerts, it was intense and inspiring.

Now I welcome July with a list full of work to do, I start with shipping your orders. Thank you for your support and we’re back to work!

matcha bowls in glossy white, designed and made for matchin’

this matcha bowl is perfectly round, elevated on slim higher foot, with tiny, precise spout. It is fully handmade: wheelthrown, trimmed and then glazed. We wanted functionality and minimalism, no excessive decoration, so nothing steals attention from our craft and the taste of product inside: matcha.

This design was then repeated in beige and gray. Available only at matchin’

Cha ze - new addition to our teaware portfolio. Cha ze is a tea scoop used in gonfu cha for measuring and presenting tea leaves. Our one is made with dark stoneware and covered with matte wood ash glaze. It’s a great new addition to my own tea practice and hopefully it will its place in yours too.
