‘Claire, the Bum-Bums have several tasks in every child’s life,’ explained the violet one. He came
so close that Claire tried to touch him with her finger, but he quickly jumped away without
interrupting his speech. ‘We teach newborns how to smile, for example.’
‘I love tickling them on the cheeks,’ added the pink one cheerfully. ‘Their skin is so soft and warm.’
‘Then take care of teaching you things that your parents don’t teach you,’ added the violet one.
‘Imagine what would happen...These poor children would not know how to run around the house,
throw things, paint on the walls...,’ enumerated the blue one.

‘Hello, Claire, are you there?’ said the blue creature.
‘I...yes, but what are you? Who are you,’ she answered, surprised.
‘What do you mean, who are we? ‘Our name is Bum-Bums.’ Stated the pink one.
‘Bum-Bums?’ laughed the girl.
‘The legend says that when children are naughty, their parents often tell them to sit on their bums
and calm down,’ further explained the pink one. ‘That’s why we’re called so, no surprise there.’
