🎭 KRAKOW FEST 2026 invites theatre artists from around the world to submit solo performances (monodrama) for the festival taking place 7–10 May 2026 in Kraków, Poland.

The 2026 edition of the festival unfolds under the name EROS AWAKENED, inspired by Eros Bendato by Igor Mitoraj — a fragmented, bound figure marked by rupture and incompleteness.

In a fractured world shaped by conflict and broken continuities, this Eros is not restored or idealized. He begins to see and to speak. This gesture defines the festival’s idea: theatre does not erase fractures. It creates space for voice where there was silence and for presence where vision was blocked — allowing many singular perspectives to coexist.

🎯 WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking completed or near-completed monodrama productions in which:

• the performance is carried by the body, presence, and voice of a single performer,
• the theme grows from personal, local, or socially grounded experience,
• the work is created under tension, pressure, conflict, or limitation,
• form serves communication with the audience, not aesthetics alone.

🎭 No specific theatrical style or method is required.

🌍 THEMES OF INTEREST (non-exclusive)

We particularly welcome performances addressing:

• social, political, or cultural conflict,
• restriction, control, or censorship,
• migration, displacement, identity, exclusion,
• personal stories shaped by tension between the individual and larger systems.

🚫 WHAT WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR

• purely decorative or formal works,
• productions requiring complex scenography or large technical teams,
• performances involving more than one performer on stage.

🎊 2025 has passed for us Between Heaven and Earth!

Thanks to the support of the city, we were able to bring our play to life and premiere it at Centrum Kultury Dworek Białoprądnicki. We spent many inspiring moments at events hosted by our beloved Centrum Wielokulturowe w Krakowie, a place that always makes us feel at home.

We organized the second edition of our International Theatre Festival, traveled all the way to the Theatre Forum in South Korea, and started a beautiful collaboration with Krakowskie Forum Kultury, where we played to full houses.

Our story also found a new path beyond the stage—the screenplay based on our play became a finalist at the Catalina Film Festival 🎬

At the SITFY festival, we were honored with the Special Jury Award 🎭

Along the way, we supported various organizations and events on a charitable basis, giving what we could whenever it was needed.

It was such a good year!

To everyone who walked this path with us and supported us—thank you from the bottom of our hearts ❤️

We wish you all the fulfillment of your dreams in 2026 ✨

As for ours… we’ll keep them to ourselves for now—but we’re going for even more!!!

📣 Statement from the KITE THEATER 📣

It has come to our attention that a manipulated image has circulated online, falsely suggesting that Kraków city councilor Magdalena Mazurkiewicz-Radna Miasta Krakowa attended an event she did not.

This image is a digital fabrication, a crude attempt at misrepresentation, and anyone thinking should immediately recognize it as such.

Magdalena Mazurkiewicz is a highly accomplished council member, with a proven track record of meaningful initiatives, sustained cultural support, and genuine dedication to her district, Nowa Huta. She is respected and visible, which is precisely why she is being targeted.

The attack is so obviously constructed that it becomes laughable upon even the slightest scrutiny:

1. The manipulated photo was taken from the same day as another public event she attended, making the forgery almost immediately discoverable.
2. The absurdity of the claim is amplified by the fact that she has no need for fake publicity, especially with public figures like Rafał Trzaskowski, with whom she can easily take a real photograph.
3. A large majority of reactions and comments on this post are clearly bots or coordinated accounts, often from outside Kraków. Why would people from all over Poland so diligently observe and react to local Kraków posts?
4. This is not a simple mistake. It is a deliberate attempt at sabotage, a targeted attack on a public servant whose work and integrity are widely recognized. It is a stark reminder of how easily truth can be manipulated and spread by digital forces aiming to distort reality.

We, at the Kite Theater, stand firmly with Councilor Magdalena Mazurkiewicz, and reject any attempt to smear her reputation through deceit and manufactured outrage. To anyone reading this: do not be misled. Look carefully. Think critically. The manipulation is obvious.

🌟 Yesterday we had the honor of being guests at the Dom Pomocy Społecznej w Krakowie ul. Praska 27, where we shared a very special Christmas Eve together. We came with our KITE Theater and were happy to be one of many institutions and individuals who helped sponsor gifts for the residents. What we received in return was warmth, openness, and many deeply touching moments ❤️

Our heartfelt thanks go to Maria Amin, the driving force behind this entire action. Your dedication, kindness, and ability to bring people together made this meeting possible and truly meaningful.

We also sincerely thank the Dom Pomocy Społecznej at Praska for hosting us so warmly and welcoming us into your home.
