Alcantara River School - 𝒶 𝓁𝒶𝒷𝑜𝓇𝒶𝓉𝑜𝓇𝓎 𝑜𝒻 𝓈𝑒𝓃𝓈𝓊𝑜𝓊𝓈 𝓅𝑒𝓇𝒸𝑒𝓅𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃
10-day (de)school programme focusing on six senses ecosystem storytelling.

Through smell, touch, hearing, vision, taste and interbeing (subtle body awareness) we will connect our bodies with the animacy of the watershed of Alcantara Valley.

Laraja is a multidimensional artist, holistic bodyworker and somatic psychedelic practitioner. 

Facilitating group and partner workshops as well as 1-1 bodywork rituals, their sessions lead with the body’s Somatic healing intelligence.

During Alcantara Summer School Alcantara Summer School they will facilitate attuning to the sense of touch (sign up link in our bio 💦)

Combining theoretical trainings with ancient technologies;

attention~as~energy and intention~as~cultivation; opens a channel for life~giving force to connect our inner landscapes and outer cosmic~eco~systems.

Bodywork and touch therapy become an explorative field-play and somatic dialogue of intimacy with earth~bodies.

learning to read a landscape through skin, breath, stillness and movement has been at the core of our work since the beginning of LIOS, seven years ago in the Błędowska Desert. A research into coexistence through the body and the senses.

What happens if we let perception become the method?
This summer, we bring that practice to the banks of the Alcantara River in Sicily.

We open some spots for: RIVER THEATRE 23.07- 2.08.2026 💦
The camp remains along the river. The gorge becomes the rehearsal space, its basalt walls the set, its acoustics the score, its water the primary dramaturge. What River School opened in the body, River Theatre brings into form.

🎭 River Theatre is particularly suited to performers, actors, dancers, musicians, and theatre practitioners. However, is open to anyone whose practice involves paying close attention to the world. No specific discipline required, only the willingness to let a river teach

Sam Pama is a contemporary composer and pianist working at the intersection of sound, memory, and poetic form. His work moves between intimacy and expansiveness, shaping sonic spaces that inspire healing and harmony.

Sam will guide the exploration of Hearing (round 1) and guide the Sound laboratory (round 2).

Drawing from Pauline Oliveros’s Deep Listening practice and the acoustic research begun in Round I, participants work with hydrophone recordings, field sounds, voice, and instrument to develop original compositions sourced directly from the sonic world of the Alcantara gorge.

Jagna Nawrocka is a choreographer, performer, and visual artist. Engaged in activism for LGBTQIA+ communities in Poland and perseverance of life in dying ecosystems, they organize participatory performances and movements dissolving borders between play and critical analysis. They craft choreographies of coexistence to re-member relations with weirdness and wildness. Their artistic research explores choreographic scores as archives of unseen. Working with physicality of body and voice, a presence of a camera, somatic poetry, and textile art, they chase gestures and symbols that hold a healing power 🫴🫀

Jagna will be a host of both rounds of the School offering individual artistic mentorship, body-based research tools and choreography&perfomance supervision.

Through improvisation in movement, somatic practice, and site-specific choreography, participants develop a physical language for the collective show- one that emerges from the body’s accumulated experience of the gorge. The gorge is the studio. The river’s movement is the first choreographer 🫆

Planeta Eugenia is a nomadic, spiritual artist of Ukrainian descent whose practice is rooted in a symbiotic vision of the world. She is the founder of Atelier Planeta, a project that brings together sustainable fashion, visual art, and performance. Guided by a deep search for spiritual knowledge, she was initiated into the Hindu Sanatan Dharma tradition. Through visual art, she expresses her devotion to nature and explores the connection between the material and the sacred.

Planeta will guide a path of Smell (Round 1) and Puppet Laboratory (Round 2):
~> Smell - inner scent
Guided by the riverside spirits and supported by Planeta, we explore the internal alchemy of smell and emotions.
~> Puppet Laboratory
Drawing from ritual folk tradition and the animist impulse to give voice to the more-than-human world, participants craft handmade puppets and costumes from biodegradable and locally sourced materials. The puppet, like the mask, allows the performer to step aside from their human identity and let another being speak through them.

OPEN CALL for Alcantara Summer School in Sicily 💦Join us in our riverside camp to connect and cocreate with the magnificent basalt gorges of Alcantara on the foothill of Mt Etna. Apply until 4th of May for one or both programmes:

9-19 July Alcantara River School 🌸
- a laboratory of sensuous perception where we center our awareness by exploring six-senses as gateways for artistic practice and healing

23 July - 2 August River Theatre 🎭
- a puppet laboratory leading to creation of a collective performance retelling the new myth of the river. Grounded in ritual theatre, deep listening and sound composition, puppetry and ecological storytelling, the school invites folks working with performance, music and somatics to join our troupe!

We invite performing artists, costume designers, stenographers, musicians, actors, magicians and body-workers to join the 10-day Theatre Laboratory during which we will create a human size puppet show and performed it for the River, in the open-air circus of Settevoci community.
