NEW Open Call for artists.

The objective of the international Nature of Us project is to support collaboration and interdisciplinary dialogue between the performing arts and the natural sciences in addressing climate change and environmental conservation. It responds to the performing arts’ needs to gain a solid understanding of the environmental issues and create works that meaningfully address their audiences’ concerns. As a result, enhanced effectiveness of artistic creations and products can be reached in raising awareness of climate change and encouraging taking action.

⚫️What we offer:
Nature of us will provide co-production support for the creation of a cross-sectoral performance, developed in international or local collaboration between environmental experts and artists.

⚫️What we are looking for:
▶️Cross-sectoral, art-science performative work in development that deals with the natural world, climate change, environmental art.
▶️Small or middle scale professional artistic cooperation that contextualizes science in the core of the artistic work and/or involved scientists in the artistic process.
▶️Courageous performing art practice of artists based in Nature of Us partners’ countries Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic or Poland. International teams are welcome but the registered office and main area of operation of the artistic group must be in one of the Nature of Us partner countries: Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic or Poland.
▶️The work can already have additional support or co-financing but it is not a requirement, nor is it an advantage. Please provide a realistic calculation in relation to your concept, up until the point of work-in-progress or premiere to be presented at the Bazaar Festival in 2026.

The Nature of Us is a collaborative initiative run by Műhely Alapítvány / Workshop Foundation (HU), Live Performance Bazaar (CZ), PLAST - Platforma pre súčasný tanec (SK) and polka dot (PL), co-funded by the European Union’s Creative Europe Program and the Trust for Mutual Understanding (US).

Czym jest polka dot?

Fundacja polka dot jest niezależną organizacją stworzoną przez artystki związane z gdańską sceną tańca: Ulę Zerek, Katarzynę Julię Pastuszak, Katarzynę Chmielewską, Katarzynę Ustowską, Tatianę Kamieniecką oraz Annę Steller. Fundacja zajmuje się rozwijaniem i promowaniem sztuki tańca i choreografii we współpracy z artystami oraz instytucjami kultury. Celem działań fundacji jest budowanie nowego wymiaru dialogu, w którym taniec jest podstawowym językiem zarówno w sferze kultury, życia społecznego, edukacji i wymiany artystycznej.

Fundacja zainaugurowała swoją działalność w 2018. Pierwszym współrealizowanym projektem jest „Serce Fabryki” we współpracy z Instytutem Adama Mickiewicza, Europejskim Centrum Solidarności oraz Tabacka Kulturfabrik. Polka dot będzie współorganizatorem Polskiej Platformy Tańca w Gdańsku w 2019 roku.

Stworzyłyśmy polkę dot z potrzeby połączenia sił, innowatorskiego myślenia oraz działania w kulturze i sztuce. Jesteśmy niezależnymi artystkami i kreatorkami. Łączy nas taniec i łączy nas Gdańsk. Chcemy uruchamiać przestrzeń wymiany twórczej pomiędzy tańcem a innymi obszarami życia. Czerpiąc z naszych dotychczasowych doświadczeń i potencjału, proponujemy nową jakość obecności tańca w sferze sztuki, życia społecznego oraz na styku kultury z biznesem. Nasze działania artystyczne i edukacyjne pozwolą na budowanie mocnych relacji w społecznościach oraz rozwijanie partnerstwa artystów z instytucjami kultury i organizacjami, dla których taniec może być językiem przyszłości.
