A congregational prayer and heartfelt tribute was organized today, on Thursday, October 12, 2023, in memory of our second-year student, Hassan Tariq, who tragically lost his life in a mobile phone snatching incident. The faculty, staff, and students were shocked and saddened at the heart-wrenching incident. The gathering took place at the Hockey Ground and was attended by a large number of students, faculty, and staff. The event began with congregational prayers & was later addressed by our Principal, Prof. Shujat Ali Khan.
Afterward, faculty, staff, and students came together for a peaceful protest. They walked from the Press Club to the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, demanding justice. Their call for justice was met with support from various officials, including the Provincial Minister for Information, SSP Peshawar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, and other high-ranking authorities, who visited Edwardes College. They held a press conference and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety of our students and reassurance that culprits will be caught within days.
We extend our gratitude to the Provincial Government, the Police Department, and the Administrative Bodies for their solidarity, cooperation, and efforts.
