Illegal Saw Mill Busted in Allai - Forest Authorities Tighten Noose Around Timber Mafia
Matai Gantar, Allai | 09 May 2026
In a decisive move against illegal timber operations and environmental crimes, the staff of Allai Forest Sub-Division carried out a successful crackdown on an unlawfully operating saw unit at Matai Gantar today. The operation reflects the unwavering commitment of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Department towards the protection of precious forest resources and the enforcement of forestry laws across the province.
Acting promptly on credible information, the field staff raided the site and dismantled the illegal saw unit on the spot. The facility was subsequently sealed to prevent any further unlawful processing of timber and to discourage similar illegal activities in the area.
During the operation, a considerable quantity of illicit timber was recovered and taken into official custody. The confiscated wood was shifted to Khando Forest Check Post for safe storage and further legal proceedings.
The accused operator present at the site was apprehended and placed under detention immediately. A formal damage report has been registered, while legal action has been initiated under the relevant provisions of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Ordinance 2002 (Amended 2022).
The operation underscores the department’s zero-tolerance policy against timber smuggling, illegal saw mills, and activities contributing to deforestation and ecological degradation. Forest officials reiterated that indiscriminate cutting and unlawful timber trade not only threaten biodiversity and wildlife habitats but also accelerate climate change, soil erosion, floods, and environmental instability in the region.
The Climate Change, Forestry, Environment and Wildlife Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, remains steadfast in its mission to preserve the province’s green wealth through strict enforcement, vigilant monitoring, and coordinated field operations.
