HRCP Annual Reports
In 1995, we designed the first jacket for the State of Human Rights in Pakistan Annual Report. It was an honour to continue designing this title until 2016.
At Visionaries, we have always called the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan our mother organisation. For reasons we can never fully repay, HRCP always stood by us, believed in our designs, and never treated us like tailors expected to stitch a design according to a client's boutique style. They trusted us to think, to create, and to communicate.
Every Annual Report jacket was a new challenge for us. No two were ever approached in the same way. Each cover carried the responsibility of reflecting a year's human rights journey, and we embraced that responsibility with sincerity, passion, and excitement.
There were criticisms over the years. Some called our work a mithai ka dabba, others dismissed it as "very desi". We smiled and carried on. We remain proudly Mozang oriented, still preferring a dahi ka piyala with a garam garam kulcha over anything fashionable for the sake of fashion.
And when it comes to HRCP, there has always been an emotional bond as well. It has never been just another client or another assignment. It has been a relationship built on trust, respect, shared values, and the freedom to create.
Our heartfelt gratitude to HRCP for making us a part of its journey. Continuing to work with them for more than 30 years is a matter of pride in itself. Some relationships are measured not by contracts, but by the faith people place in one another.

On June 7, 2000, my father called me in a very sad voice. "Bohat nuqsan ho gaya hai, betay. Aziz Uncle chalay gaye."
I was stunned to hear those words.
Aziz Uncle—I always called him Sir, as he was my immediate boss at the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan—was one of the finest people I have had the privilege to know.
Those were the days when we were publishing books, the Annual Report on Human Rights, an English newsletter, and the monthly Jehd-i-Haq (edited by Sir Husain Naqi). It was a remarkable team of some of Pakistan's most distinguished intellectuals, working together to build a platform for the rights of all people, without discrimination based on caste, creed or culture.
Unfortunately, we have failed to preserve the memory of such a towering figure. He deserved far greater appreciation, more memoirs, and countless references on search engines. Anyone seeking to understand the history of human rights in Pakistan should also have the opportunity to discover his remarkable contribution. Through his regular columns in leading newspapers, he offered guidance not only to policymakers but also to ordinary citizens.
Today, I can proudly say that Sir's contribution to making the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan a credible and trusted institution was remarkable. The reports he edited and compiled came to be regarded as the most authentic source of information on human rights violations in Pakistan.
Visionaries Division, with the support of its partners, has always sought to pay tribute to such legends. This handycam-edited short film was produced for screening at a seminar held in his honour at HRCP's Aiwan-i-Jamhoor.
One of the objectives of the I. A. Rehman Institute for Peace is to remember its heroes and ensure that future generations know of their contributions.
