Independent Theatre Pakistan Independent Theatre Pak provides a platform for aspiring young artists with a focus on Pakistani values and creating cross cultural dialogue.

Founded in 2012 we are the youngest Pakistani Theatre Company. Not only do we provide a platform for theatrical arts, we also carry out an innovative, youth centered theatrical program and ingenious curriculum across the nation. We love our multilingual culture and its practices, its norms and their reflection in literature. Our productions focus on Pakistani values with a spotlight on creating cr

oss cultural dialogue through means of creative expression. Heartbreaking, soul searching, riveting, undiluted performances with a shake of humour and a pinch of reality is what we aim for. Mixing our literature and values with modern physical theatre inspired performances, we want to ensure that the audience is involved, shocked and surprised through the course of the play.

Azeem Hamid is a visual designer, social entrepreneur, art and design educator with great interest in design entrepreneurship, research and innovation. He is passionate about design and aim to use the key principles of design for innovative communication solutions and socio-political change, hence, being involved in work with nonprofits, social enterprises and collaborative projects such as Rabtt, Social Innovation Lab, Recipes for Wellbeing (Retreat for Artists) and Social Innovation Academy - SINA.

His recent endeavours include a design project; ‘To Get Here: at the Centre Pompidou’ in Paris. This was a real opportunity for in situ trans-disciplinary work in the context of an international learning exchange. The project offered designers the possibility of working in teams on subjects linked to the living museum as embodied by Centre Pompidou, Paris. He was invited to approach the works, the collections, the site, and the missions of the museum with a designer’s eye. Moreover, his collaboration with the Social Innovation Academy - SINA in East Africa took place in 2018 and 2019. This research project is designed as a trans-disciplinary design exchange program. The objective of this research is to develop creative thinking skills and understand how the students apply these skills to collaborate and make-meaning using design thinking as a creative tool.

Azeem is the founder at Independent Theatre Pakistan - a platform for aspiring young artists with a focus on Pakistani values and creating cross cultural dialogue. Currently, he is also the founding partner and creative director at Rearts - a technology driver arts organisation.

He is an alumni of Changemakerxchange - co-created by Ashoka and Robert Bosch Stiftung, DICE Pakistan Fellow and a member of Global Shapers Lahore Hub by World Economic Forum.

We delivered workshops/lectures and our creative arts youth programming on topics like Storytelling, Re-Imaging, Production Design, Empathy Building, Critical Thinking, Theatre Culture etc. more than 250 times not only in Pakistan but also in places like Indonesia, Turkey, Sri Lanka, UAE, India, France, Azerbaijan, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.
