Muse Art Gallery presents Tehreem Fatima as part of ‘5 Solos In 1’, bringing together five distinct studio practices that explore research through material, memory, cultural heritage, and lived experience.

A textile artist, designer, academic, entrepreneur, and researcher based in Lahore, Tehreem’s practice explores the relationship between indigenous craft traditions and contemporary textile practices. Her work draws on the tactile language of fabric and thread to reflect on memory, human experience, communal ties, and the cultural knowledge embedded within traditional crafts.

At the heart of her practice is a commitment to honouring the stories and labour of artisans who sustain these traditions. By bringing hereditary textile knowledge into contemporary forms, Tehreem creates visual and tactile archives that preserve cultural practices while exploring their connection to human resilience and struggle.

Through textiles as both material and metaphor, her work gives physical form to the invisible histories, memories, labour, and emotional weight carried within craft.

Muse Art Gallery presents Mahrukh Khan as part of ‘5 Solos In 1’, bringing together five distinct studio practices that explore research through material, lived experience, emotion, and new forms of visual language.

A textile artist, educator, and researcher, Mahrukh’s practice explores the expressive potential of textile surface techniques through embroidery, weaving, digital printing, fabric manipulation, and layered forms. Her work often draws from the emotional impact of everyday surroundings, translating personal and observed experiences into tactile compositions.

For this body of work, Mahrukh engages with the paintings of a non-verbal autistic child, treating his marks, lines, colours, and forms as a visual language. Through a co-created studio practice, these paintings become the foundation for repetitive textile patterns, where repetition reflects routines, patterns, and fixations associated with autistic experience. Hand embroidery, weaving, and fabric slashing further explore the experiences of both neurodivergent individuals and their caregivers, while foregrounding care, resilience, perception, and different ways of experiencing the world.

The work ultimately asks us to consider whether neurodivergence should always require adaptation to existing structures, or whether our environments can instead make space for different ways of being.

Muse Art Gallery presents Ammara Khalid as part of ‘5 Solos In 1’, bringing together five distinct studio practices that explore research through material, memory, culture, and lived experience.

A multidisciplinary visual artist, researcher, and academic based in Lahore, Ammara’s practice brings together creative inquiry and critical research, engaging with identity, nostalgia, Pakistani cinema, visual culture, and socio-cultural narratives. Her background in documentary filmmaking informs an approach rooted in archival research, community engagement, and experimentation.

For ‘گلشن کا خدا حافظ’, Ammara revisits the relationship between ecology and Pakistani cinema, drawing on the once-symbolic presence of rain, fragrance, streams, and the sky in film songs and titles. By inscribing Pakistani film songs onto paper made from henna leaves, she creates a material and visual archive that reflects on nostalgia, ecological memory, political exploitation, and the changing ways cultural knowledge is preserved and communicated.

Muse Art Gallery presents Shahzeb Ahmad as part of ‘5 Solos In 1’, bringing together five distinct studio practices that explore research through material, perception, memory, and lived experience.

A visual artist, educator, and researcher, Shahzeb’s practice explores emotions, psychological states, and the subtle experiences that shape human perception. Working primarily through drawing, she develops an abstract and non-figurative visual language through line, shape, rhythm, space, and colour.
For this exhibition, Shahzeb explores the emotional resonance of Urdu words and phrases through abstract drawing. Rather than depicting language literally, the words become conceptual starting points for investigating how emotions can be translated into visual form, inviting viewers to engage through their own perceptions and associations.
