A breakthrough coating developed by researchers at University of Sydney and startup Dewpoint Innovations could help buildings stay cooler while producing water from the air.

The paint-like coating reflects up to 97% of sunlight and can keep surfaces as much as 6°C cooler than the surrounding air without using electricity. It also helps condense moisture from the atmosphere, allowing rooftops to collect water in humid conditions.

Researchers estimate that a 200-square-meter roof could harvest up to 70 liters of water per day under favorable weather conditions. If commercialized, the technology could offer a low-cost solution for reducing energy consumption and tackling heat stress in hot countries like Pakistan.

Govt Clarifies Share Trading Tax Proposal Ahead of Budget 2026-27

The government has clarified that no new tax is being proposed on the trading of shares of companies listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), easing concerns among investors ahead of the upcoming federal budget.

Officials said trading in publicly listed companies will continue under the existing tax regime, with no additional burden planned for stock market investors. However, the government is considering a proposal to tax the transfer and sale of shares in private limited companies as part of efforts to broaden the tax base.

Authorities are also reviewing the possibility of taxing certain share transactions conducted outside the National Clearing Company system. The proposal remains under consideration, and no final decision has been announced.

Market experts believe the government is unlikely to introduce measures that could negatively affect investor confidence or stock market activity.
