"Emperor Ghazal Talat Mahmood"
Talat Mehmood was born in 1924 in a respectable family in Lucknow, his father Major Mehmood was a very strict person, and this family consisting of three brothers and three sisters had old traditions.
To enter the film industry, Talat had to fight a lot, he convinced his mother, but it was almost impossible to convince his father, because Talat Mahmood, for the sake of his hobby, convinced his crying father who saw the condition of his son. Kar was forced but was only allowed to sing, not to act, thus starting in the Calcutta film industry when he worked as an actor at the beginning of his father's blood, he changed his name to Tapan Kumar, but unfortunately, none of his films were successful. Didn't happen.
However, the ghazal sang to him, "Tasveer Teri Mera Dil Behla na Sakegi" made the hearts of his youth warm overnight.
After making a name for himself in Calcutta, he moved to Bombay where he was introduced to the Bombay film industry by musician Anil Biswas. The movie was "Arzoo" and the lyrics of the song were "Ae Dil Aisi Jaga Le Chal".
This song was filmed on Dilip Kumar by the late director Shahid Latif and became very popular, it was the era of Dilip Kumar and Kamini Kaushal, and after that Talat Sahib's voice became Dilip Kumar's voice and mostly he started singing songs for him.
He gave playback in many films of Dilip Kumar including "Babul, Tarana, Sangdil, Shikast" etc. Talat Mehmood has sung for every big and small musician, including Naushad Sahib, Shankar Jay Kishan, and the late Madan Mohan, whose music was composed for the song "Meri Yaad Mein Tum Na Aansu" from the movie Madhosh. "Bahana" became immensely popular and is still as fresh today after four decades.
Talat Mehmood's downfall was due to his passion for acting, and acting in director A.R Kardar's films Dil-e-Nadan, Sone Ki Chirya, Ek Gayon Ek Kahani, Lala Rukh, Waris, etc. Failed Although "Ek Gayon Ek Kahani" was a good and purposeful film it didn't work.
The surprising thing is that Talat Mehmood was the craze of the college boys, the songs he sang for other actors were highly appreciated by his fans. Even Shami Kapoor, who was a flop hero in those days, sang Majaz's famous poem "Ae Gham Dil-e-Kya Karoon" in the movie "Thokar". Those who sang the songs "Zindagi Dene wale" (Dil Nadan) and "Dil Par Bus To Nahi Mera Phir Bhi Lekin" (Sonay Ki Chirya) all became popular, so while he was away from the world of songs to the world of stars. As I flew, other voices filled the void. Meanwhile, Kishore Kumar benefited the most, and Talat Mehmood's melodious voice was forever drowned in the noise of Kishore Kumar's 'Ena Meena Deka' (film Ashna).
