I've always enjoyed going against the current ... it's in my nature. For a long time I had dabbled with the idea of working in an art medium that I could push and that would be equally challenging in terms of push back. After my father's passing away in February 2013, I started with my first mosaic project to spend some alone time and to figure out priorities and how to handle growing responsibilities. To me mosaic making has been tremendous catharsis and educational in many ways. My greatest life lesson from Mosaic making is that a master piece may not be complete without the smallest and seemingly most insignificant piece thereby deeming it most significant. Mosaic making has taught me to harness the urge to rush through to the end and value the journey as much as one ought to enjoy reaching one's destination. Grouting is painful but necessary to bring a piece to life as are some painful decisions in life that must be taken to celebrate and live life to the fullest. As learnt recently, Juja appears to be an actual first name in some cultures, however Juja to me has been and will remain a self coined term of endearment ... which, my dear wife and I used for each other when we first met at University some 12 years ago. Since then we have evolved into a family and so now our lovely children too are now young Jujas. I have chosen to name my passion of mosaic making after the essence of the sentiments that have drawn me to loving Allah,my mother, wife, children, family and friends and dedicate my creations to my late father Justice Sheikh Khalid Javaid.
