16th December, 2014.
Ankhon mein khwaabon ke diye they jaley,
Or tabeer hathon mein liye,
Chehron pe rangon umangon ki bahaar,
Jese khilney ko hon kaliyaan bekaraar,
Is chaman ke phool they haan, woh bhi khilna chahtey they,
Zindagi ko zindagi sa, woh bhi jeena chahte they,,
Dhundey unhein zindagii...
Zindagi yaad karti hai! Aj fariyaad krti hai!
Rayegaan na jayega, khoon ye masoomon ka; zindagi har khoaf se azaad karti hai.
16th December. A day no Pakistani will ever forget. A black day for us, and for our nation! Innocent school students, in their childhood/teenage years were brutally murdered in a terrorist attack on the Army public school, Peshawar. I was in 3rd grade at that time, but even after all these years, i still remember the names, and the faces of those who lost their lives, and suffered the 8 hours of horror inside the school with those armed terrorists. Those brave teachers who sacrificed their own lives, but protected their students and hid them in places, I salute you. I vividly remember a very young boy from kindergarten, who went to school as his first day with his older brother, to experience the school environment, but never never returned back.
All those mothers who sent their kids to school by school buses, received back their dead bodies, that too in ambulances, fathers who offered the last prayer, and buried their own young children by their own hands - we cannot imagine even the quarter of the pain they went through. We haven't forgotten, we never will!
Our prayers are with all those who lost their lives in this attack, and those who survived but have to bear the trauma and memories of that day forever. We hope, and sincerely pray that no other nation has to go through what ours went through.
