His father, Jeetendra Kumar Punj, was a head constable in the Punjab Police and passed away in 2004 after a battle with cancer. His mother, Janak Rani, is a homemaker.

He has a brother, Ashok Kumar Sharma (a police constable) and a sister, Pooja Pawan Devgan.

Kapil rose from humble beginnings and became one of India’s biggest comedians, known for The Kapil Sharma Show and his stand-up work.
