BREATHING SPACE. A stunning example of a Dipolog sunset. The geography of the city, with its open Sulu Sea and the towns of Roxas and Manukan to the left and the island of Negros to the right, creates the perfect conditions for these dazzling displays. The meteorological conditions also play a role, with thunderstorms helping to set the stage for the late afternoon show. Anvil clouds extend miles out to sea from land masses on both sides, and these formations alter the light in infinite combinations. Add the ever-changing surface effects of the sea, and you have the makings of a natural wonder.

Even in inclement weather, the show goes on. Squalls rolling into land are fearsome but strangely beautiful and exciting events. On most rainy days, just before the sun disappears, light from the gap between land and sea turns the horizon incandescent for an awe-inspiring few moments. These factors exist in many other places, but combined with memories and the right company, a Dipolog sunset leaves an indelible mark in those who witness it. - Armandfrasco
