The band Badgrass established during early 2000's in Zamboanga and famous for their Chavacano hit song "JARDIN" also known as "Siembra mi Patola" some even considered this song as the most controversial Chavacano song of the decade because of it's double meaning effect on listeners. The song "JARDIN" is the bands first debut single released on August of 2007 and played at over 8 AM/FM local radio stations. The song progress to fame overnight hitting the airwaves like storm, together with their counter part in OCM known to many as "Comic Relief" who has made their reputation as the most sensational Pop-group during this era. Together these two group of young musicians paved a way for other local aspiring musicians to promote their Original Chavacano songs (OCM) and be recognized.
Badgrass band captured the hearts of many radio listeners, music lovers young and old. With their fluid blend of sounds combining different genre's from reggae, ska to jazz and grunge alternative. Which gave the group an edge and a unique stir in Zamboanga's music scene.
Badgrass band former member Tristan "Jimi" Ong (bassist, composer) played a crucial role in their success and fame with his iconic bass lines, famous in his craft during the late 90's. Despite the great loss of their member (Jimi), The band decided to keep their reputation and to continue collaborating with other talents in Zamboanga and abroad. The group is composed of 7 members, Jepoy Consorte/Ryan Aquino (percussions). Philip "Yep" Cataylo/ Cristian Bongat (guitars). Julifhil "Epoi" Ventula (bass). Cesar "Chippy" Gutierrez (drums) and Neil Abarri (vocals).
Now BADGRASS and their humble beginnings has left an unfading mark in the history of Zamboanga's radio airwaves while maintaining their status and reputation in the local music scene. Until today the group is still performing at local bars and front acts for famous artists in the industry.
