An afternoon where art stepped beyond the frame and came alive through movement, sound, space, and presence- “Paglungtad: Peformance Series.”

Czar Vergantiños laid out the floor plan for “There Is No Door to This House,” transforming space into a work of memory and possibility.

Gertrelle Sumicad performed her original composition for “Adlaw-Adlaw,” bringing her work into voice and sound.

And Kaith Pelicano for “Quintessential Woman,” creating a powerful meeting of performance, music, and expression.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, listened, watched, participated, and supported “Frame x Frame” and “Paglungtad.” Your presence is what allows these works, artists, and conversations to continue unfolding.

As the exhibition comes to a close today, we extend our congratulations to all of our exhibiting artists.

Meet the “Paglungtad” artists:

Join us at Mugna Gallery on Saturday, September 12, 4 PM, and witness a series of performances with the artists of Paglungtad.

The artworks of Paglungtad and the performance series reflect on the methods these artists use to respond to the structures and systems that have defined their lived experiences and realities.

Czar Vergantinos will tape out a floorplan from “There Is No Door Into This House” on to the grounds of Mugna Gallery, while Kaith Pelicano, fashioned in her bug outfit, will perform “Quintessential Woman” and to conclude the afternoon, Gertrelle Sumicad will sing her songs from “Adlaw-Adlaw.”

Meet Gertrelle Sumicad, one of the artists of “Paglungtad,” a visual artist and musician based in Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental.

Her practice involves photography, and song composition to make satirical videos. In her videos, the mundane is the focal point of every joke. Taking inspiration from internet s**t posts which are low-effort or nonsensical pieces of content shared online. Her videos explore the repetitive nature of the mundane and how spaces dictate what our norm may be. Gertrelle’s work is a contradiction of ideas that invite viewers to be hyper aware about existence while simultaneously detouring them in forms of entertainment.

Catch her along with the other exhibiting artists at “Paglungtad: Performance Series” this Saturday, September 12, 3 pm.
