Cantica Gratiae π‘ͺπ’†π’π’†π’ƒπ’“π’‚π’•π’Šπ’π’ˆ π‘­π’‚π’Šπ’•π’‰ π‘»π’‰π’“π’π’–π’ˆπ’‰ π‘΄π’–π’”π’Šπ’„. It is inspired by a deep desire to offer songs of grace and thanksgiving as an act of glorifying God and serving the Church.

Cantica Gratiae, meaning "Canticles of Grace" or "Songs of Thanksgiving," is a humble Catholic music apostolate founded by Mark Anthony Reyes. The apostolate began as Psalms Ph (2018–2022) and later became David’s Psalter (2022–early 2024), focusing initially on providing Responsorial Psalms for Sunday liturgies in the Diocese of Urdaneta. Over time, its mission expanded to include a wider range o

f liturgical music, such as Mass settings, inspirational song covers, virtual concerts, and recitals. At its core, Cantica Gratiae is a way of giving thanks to God. MABUTING BALITA
Lucas 5, 1-11

Ang Mabuting Balita ng Panginoong ayon kay San Lucas

Noong panahong iyon, nakatayo si Hesus sa baybayin ng Lawa ng Generaset. Pinagkalipumpunan siya ng napakaraming tao na ibig makarinig ng salita ng Diyos. May nakita siyang dalawang bangka sa baybayin; nakalunsad na ang mga mangingisda at naghuhugas ng kanilang mga lambat. Lumulan siya sa isa sa mga bangka at hiniling kay Simong may-ari nito, na ilayo nang kaunti sa tabi. Naupo siya sa bangka at nangaral sa mga tao.

Pagkatapos niyang magsalita ay sinabi niya kay Simon, β€œPumalaot kayo at ihulog ang mga lambat upang manghuli.” Sumagot si Simon, β€œGuro, magdamag po kaming nagpagod at wala kaming nahuli! Ngunit dahil sa sinabi ninyo, ihuhulog ko ang mga lambat.” Gayun nga ang ginawa nila at sa dami ng kanilang huli ay halos magkansisira ang kanilang mga lambat. Kaya’t kinawayan nila ang kanilang mga kasamahang nasa ibang bangka upang patulong, at lumapit naman ang mga ito. Napuno ang dalawang bangka na halos lumubog. Nang makita iyon ni Simon Pedro, siya’y nagpatirapa sa paanan ni Hesus at nagsabi, β€œLumayo po kayo sa akin, Panginoon, sapagkat ako’y makasalanan.” Nanggilalas siya at ang kanyang mga kasama dahil sa dami ng kanilang huli; gayun din sina Santiago at Juan, mga anak ni Zebedeo, na mga kasosyo ni Simon. At sinabi ni Hesus kay Simon, β€œHuwag kang matakot. Mula ngayo’y mamamalakaya ka ng mga tao.” Nang maitabi na nila ang kanilang mga bangka, iniwan nila ang lahat at sumunod kay Hesus.

MABUTING BALITA
Lucas 4, 38-44

Ang Mabuting Balita ng Panginoon ayon kay San Lucas

Noong panahong iyon, umalis si Hesus sa sinagoga at nagtungo sa bahay ni Simon. Mataas noon ang lagnat ng biyanan ni Simon, kaya’t ipinamanhik nila kay Hesus na pagalingin siya. Tumayo si Hesus sa tabi ng higaan ng babae at iniutos na maalis ang lagnat, at nawala nga ito. Noon di’y tumindig ang maysakit at naglingkod sa kanila.

Paglubog ng araw, ang lahat ng maysakit β€” anuman ang karamdaman β€” ay dinala ng kanilang mga kaibigan kay Hesus. Ipinatong niya ang kanyang mga kamay sa bawat isa sa kanila at pinagaling sila. Nagsilabas sa marami ang mga demonyo, sabay sigaw, β€œIkaw ang Anak ng Diyos!” Ngunit sinaway sila ni Hesus at hindi pinahintulutang magsalita, sapagkat nakikilala nila na siya ang Mesias.

Nang mag-umaga na, umalis si Hesus at nagpunta sa isang ilang na pook. Hinanap siya ng mga tao, at nang matagpuan ay pinakiusapang huwag munang umalis. Subalit sinabi niya, β€œDapat ko ring ipangaral sa ibang bayan ang Mabuting Balita tungkol sa paghahari ng Diyos; sapagkat iyan ang layunin ng pagkasugo sa akin.” At nangaral siya sa mga sinagoga sa Judea.

Happy Saturday, mga ka-koro! Sunday Mass na naman bukas, ready na ba ang line-up niyo o nagpa-rehearse naman ba kayo? πŸ˜‚

As a church guitarist, madalas ko pag-isipan yung mga kanta natin sa simbahan. Merong mga kanta na nakaka-uplift talaga ng liturgy, at meron din namang mga kanta na... well, kinakanta na lang natin kasi 'yun ang nakasanayan.

Let’s play a quick game bago tayo sumabak bukas:
Kung may power kang mag-RETIRE ng isang super overused na kanta sa parokya niyo (as in bawal na siya kopyahin sa clearbook!), pero ang kapalit ay mag-REVIVE ng isang napakagandang hymn, chant, o lumang kanta na hindi na masyadong nagagamit... ano ang dalawang picks mo?

Here's my cover, excerpt from "Anima Christi" in Iloco. The song was originally composed for the Misa Iloco album, produced by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Urdaneta. It was later interpreted by Hangad and released by JESCOM in April 2023.

Found this video yesterday. I think this was taken a year ago (or almost) at the ICM House of Prayer in Baguio, where I handled a recollection for Louisian high school students over four days. Before the students arrived, I played songs for the Blessed Mother and asked her for guidance during the spiritual sessions. Thank God, it was a success and very meaningful.

August 18, The Blessed Martyrs of Rochefort

Fr. Leonard Duverneuil (b. 1737 at Limoges), Fr. Michel-Louis Brulard (b. 1758 at Chartres), and Fr. Hubert of Saint Claude (b. 1753 at Frolois), were among a group of 64 Martyrs beatified 1st October 1995, victims of the French Revolution who came from 14 French dioceses and from various religious Orders. In their loyalty to God, the Church and the Pope, they refused to take the oath of the Civil Constitution for the Clergy imposed by the Constituent Assembly of the Revolution. As a result, they were imprisoned, massed like animals, on a slave-trader ship in Rochefort Bay, waiting in vain to be deported into slavery. During 1794, the first two Carmelites died on board ship: Fr. John-Baptist on 1st July, and Fr. Michael-Aloysius on 25th July, both being buried on the island of Aix. After the plague broke out on the ship, those remaining disembarked on the island of Madame, where Fr. James died and was buried on 10th September. Noted for their loving ministry to their fellow prisoners and their patience in accepting every type of outrage, privation, and cruelty, not to mention the vicissitudes of weather, hunger and sickness, our three Discalced Carmelite priest martyrs and their companions in martyrdom gave unsurpassed Christian witness to their faith and love.
