CAGAYAN ART AND CREATIVE WRITING AWARDS 2026 CALL FOR ENTRIES! 📣📣📣

It’s the season once again for the most prestigious art and literary competition in Cagayan!

Muling nagbubukas ang Cagayan Art and Creative Writing Awards (CACWA) handog ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Cagayan ngayong taon para sa mga manlilikhang Cagayano.

Tinatawagan ang Cagayano artists at writers, ito na ang panahon upang magpakitang gilas sa pamamagitan ng inyong sining at talento. Sumali sa Art Competition at Short Story Writing Competition ng CACWA 2026.

Ang patimpalak na ito ay bahagi ng Aggao Nac Cagayan 2026 celebration sa darating na Hunyo. Layon nito na kilalanin ang husay at galing ng mga Cagayano at ippagmalki sa buong bansa at buong mundo.

Ang deadline ng pagsusumite ng art works at short stories ay sa MAY 8, 2026.

Adriane Gabrielle Bautista (b. 1999) is a Filipino mixed media artist currently based in Baggao, Cagayan. She began painting in 2017 and developed a practice centered on the Abstract Modern Impasto Technique, and textured surfaces. Her works often feature metallic pigments such as gold and silver, combined with contrasting tones of black, white, and gray. These elements highlight texture and depth, allowing viewers to notice both the visual and physical qualities of the painting.

Bautista’s work has received recognition in two national and local art competitions. She won 3rd Place in the 2021 Panagyaman National Art Festival and was a semi-finalist in the 2024 Sining Filipina National Art Competition. She was also a finalist in the 2023 and 2020 Cagayan Art and Creative Writing Awards (CACWA).

She sees artistic growth as something that happens through challenges during the creative process. While painting, she often discovers new techniques, practical solutions, and improved ways of working.

For Bautista, art also serves as a form of personal therapy. Her works are shaped by moments of strong emotion, allowing her to connect inner experiences with artistic expression.

Alita is an aspiring digital artist whose work explores the imaginative depths of surrealism though digital media. Inspired by emotions, and complexities of human experience, her art blends reality with the unexpected, creating visual narratives that invite viewers to look beyond the ordinary.

As a woman navigating the creative world, she uses art as a space for expression, reflection, and storytelling. Her pieces often experiment with symbolic imaginary, unusual environments, and dreamlike composition, allowing personal thoughts and feelings to transform into vivid landscapes.

Through her work, Alita continues to explore the limitless possibilities of surrealism while embracing creativity a powerful voice, especially during moments that celebrate women, their stories, and their perspectives. As an emerging artist, she hopes to inspire others to see beautifully in the strange, the emotional, and the unseen.

What is up, Cagayan!?

In celebration of National Women's Month 2026, we are excited to announce the launching of a special exhibit entitled, "𝐍𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐧𝐠𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐛𝐛𝐚𝐲: 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲".

The exhibit will feature the stories of several prominent women from different periods of Cagayan’s history– stories of the spiritual authority of early shamans or aniteras and female chieftains in the late 16th Century, to that of leaders of resistance during the colonial era, and to pioneers in governance, the arts, and social welfare in the modern period.

The launching ceremony will be held on March 23, 2026 (Monday) 4:00 PM. at the Rizal Park, Tuguegarao City.
