The countdown is on! Only four days remain before the submission deadline for Kansyonan 2026!

While we wait for more entries, we are pleased to introduce the Board of Judges who will take on the important task of evaluating this year’s submissions. Get to know our judges through their individual bionotes featured in the images.

Kansyonan 2026 is an Ibanag songwriting and music production competition conceived by the Ibanag Community Foundation, Inc. "Pattaradday na Ibanag" (ICFI), a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, protecting, and promoting the Ibanag language, culture, and identity.

The competition is co-organized by the Cagayan Museum and Historical Research Center, Yavu Collective, and Nayon Tenor Productions, with the goal of encouraging musical creativity, providing a platform for Ibanag-language music, and contributing to the growth and vitality of the local music scene.

The winners will not only take home cash prizes, but will also have the opportunity to perform their winning entries during the awarding ceremony at the Cagayan Museum on August 22, 2026.

TABOOLARASA, ILALABAS ANG DEBUT SINGLE NA “FIELD OF BONES” SA AGOSTO 7

CAGAYAN — Ilalabas ng metalcore band na Taboolarasa ang kanilang debut single na “Field of Bones” sa Agosto 7, 2026, isang heavy, melodic, at atmospheric track na tumatalakay sa frustration, faith, catharsis, at muling pagsisimula.

Ang pangalang Taboolarasa ay portmanteau ng taboo at tabula rasa, na tumutukoy sa konsepto ng pagsisimula sa isang malinis na pahina. Para sa banda, may kabalintunaan sa ideyang ito dahil hindi umano madaling magsimula sa isang clean slate kapag ang isang tao ay nahuhubog at nalilimitahan ng mga social dictates ng mundo. Sa pamamagitan ng kanilang musika, nais ng Taboolarasa na hamunin at baguhin ang mga ganitong hangganan—upang magkaroon ng kalayaang magsimula muli at sabihin kung ano ang tunay na nais sabihin.

Makikita ang konseptong ito sa kanilang tunog na pinagsasama ang bigat ng metalcore, melodic guitar work, at ambient elements. Sa “Field of Bones,” sinusundan ang paglalakbay ng isang nihilist na, sa harap ng kamatayan, ay unti-unting naghahanap sa Diyos. Mula sa pagtanggi at galit, humahantong ang kuwento sa redemption at muling pagtuklas sa nawalang pananampalataya. Tinutukoy rin ng kanta ang mga kahihinatnan ng sariling mga desisyon at kilos, mga puwersang hindi natin kontrolado, at paghahanap ng mas mataas na kapangyarihang makapagpapalaya mula sa sakit at makatutulong sa pagtuklas ng katotohanan sa sariling kaluluwa.

Binubuo ang Taboolarasa nina Vicson bilang lead vocalist; Jeff, rhythm guitarist at backing vocalist; Jerome, lead guitarist; Gio, bass guitarist; Harold, drummer; at LTapsy, drummer na kasalukuyang nasa Canada. Kasama rin si Keiro bilang tech.

Sa paglabas ng “Field of Bones,” hindi kasikatan o karangalan ang sentro ng mensahe ng Taboolarasa. Sa halip, musika ang kanilang paraan upang hamunin ang mga itinakdang hangganan, sabihin ang nais nilang sabihin, at patuloy na magsimulang muli. No fame. No glory. Just the music, and what comes after.
