We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our newly elected officers. The Bohol Arts and Cultural Heritage Council โ Dance Committee has entrusted them with the responsibility of leading the Committee on Dance.
Our new leaders are:
April Jay Banquil โ Chairperson
Frank Anthony B. Mascariรฑas โ Vice Chairperson
Their election is a testament to their invaluable contributions to our cultural heritage and to the broader dance community. Both have consistently dedicated their time and expertise to instructing, mentoring, and organizing dancersโnot only in folk dance, but across various dance disciplines in Bohol.
Mr. Jay Banquil is a pioneering member of the LUngsoranon Performing Arts Ensemble, helping lay the foundation for its growth and artistic excellence. Beyond folk dance, he is also one of the founders of Friend Society, a modern hip-hop group; T-Mates of Tagbilaran; and currently serves as the choreographer of Diwanag Dance Troupeโdemonstrating his dynamic involvement in contemporary and urban dance movements.
Meanwhile, Mr. Frank Anthony B. Mascariรฑas currently serves as the Dance Director of LUPAE, where he continues to shape performers and champion the preservation and promotion of folk dance in Bohol. Expanding his artistic range, he also has a strong inclination toward dancesport, having been a college champion in the Modern Standard discipline during the UB Days Dancesport Competitionโreflecting his versatility and competitive excellence.
With their leadership, we are confident that stronger, more inclusive, and well-structured dance initiatives will be implementedโnot only for folk dance, but for the entire dance community across the provinceโfurther enriching and uniting Boholโs vibrant dance culture.
