To our supporters, the public, and our partners,
We maintain a quiet presence on social media and rarely use these platforms to solicit new clients. The majority of our work comes through long-standing client relationships and referrals built over time. We're stepping forward here because the matter warrants a direct and transparent response.
We have seen the feedback circulating online regarding the "Startista" exhibit, and we want to address it openly and respectfully. Honest feedback come with any creative work placed in the public eye, and we welcome it. We'd simply like to offer clarity on our role and on the context behind the work.
Our scope:
Meraki art was engaged by a third-party art studio to assist with a SPECIFIC PORTION of this project, the repainting and refinement of the facial features of selected pieces, with the goal of improving their likeness and finish. We did not produce the figures in full, and we did not work on every piece in the exhibit. A number of items sent to us had already been produced elsewhere and were forwarded to us for enhancement and rework rather than created from the ground up. We took this in good faith and did our best to elevate the material we received.
Context and constraints:
This work was carried out under a limited budget and a compressed timeline. Both factors meaningfully shaped what was achievable; from the materials available to us, to the number of pieces we could work on, to the time we had for the fine detailing, correction, and proper curing between stages. We mention this NOT AS AN EXCUSE, BUT SO THE WORK CAN BE UNDERSTOOD IN ITS PROPER CONTEXT.
On expectations:
We'd also like to respectfully clarify that this project was never intended to be measured in comparison to the world-class institution as Madame Tussauds. The scale, resourcing, and production timelines behind those exhibits are of an entirely different order, and comparisons in that basis don't reflect the brief or the conditions under which this work was made.
A broader note on production:
From a project-management standpoint, exhibits of this kind succeed or struggle based on how well many elements come together, not the artwork alone.
Lighting, backdrop and staging, wardrobe and styling, overall creative and thematic direction, music and ambiance, promotional and communications strategy, the logistics and handling of pieces in transport, the timing of public release, and the selection and vetting of contributing artists all shape how the final result is received. We share this observation constructively, in the hope that it proves useful for this and future undertakings.
We remain open. WE ARE READY TO CONNECT. Any questions, clarifications, or requests for further detail are welcome and can be directed to us.
Thank you.
