SEARCH MINDSCAPEโS COMMUNITY ART GROUNDS BROUGHT A TRULY ACCESSIBLE ART EXPERIENCE TO BURGOS PARK IN FORBESTOWN
For three days in March, Burgos Park in Forbestown, Taguig became more than just a green spaceโit evolved into a vibrant hub of creativity, connection, and collaboration.
From March 20 to 22, 2026, Search Mindscapeโs first-ever Community Art Grounds unfolded as a dynamic, open-air experience that reimagined how art can be encountered. At the center of it all was founder and art consultant Ayni Nuyda, whose vision was simple yet powerful: to make art truly accessible.
โIt started out small with just one initiative,โ she recalls. โAs the planning progressed, we began engaging more artists and creative collectives.โ
That initial idea quickly expanded into something far more immersiveโa shared space where artists, audiences, and the community could meet, interact, and create together.
Where art becomes experience
Unlike traditional exhibitions, Community Art Grounds was designed as a process-driven event. The focus wasnโt just on finished pieces, but on the act of creation itself.
โCommunity Art Grounds is process-oriented. It was intended to present unique diverse art communities and engage a broad urban audience,โ Ayni explains.
Throughout the weekend, the park transformed into a living platform. Visitors didnโt just observeโthey participated. Live demonstrations, workshops, and spontaneous collaborations blurred the line between artist and audience, making creativity feel immediate and inclusive.
Open jam sessions brought together musicians and visual artists, creating an atmosphere where sound and form evolved side by side. Performances by Magna Fanta Kompyuter flowed seamlessly with Jose Solon Perfectoโs live pottery demonstrations, joined by artists like Bobby Wuds Balingit, Ryan Rebote, and Fatima Starr.
Highlights that brought the community closer
At its core, Community Art Grounds was about connectionโand each featured activity reflected that spirit.
The Alitaptap Artists Community opened their studios to the public, showcasing around 25 artists and their works. Some even created pieces on-site, offering visitors a glimpse into the realities of artistic practice. As Ayni puts it, the goal was to present โnot just the work, but the conditions of making and the exchanges that shape a collective artistic life.โ
Adding a visual centerpiece to the park was Olivia dโAbovilleโs installation of Floating Dandelions. Crafted from recycled plastic bottles and suspended between palm trees, the piece transformed the space into a glowing constellation. It also carried a deeper message about how art evolves through collaboration and context.
For those eager to get hands-on, the Participatory Woodblock Project โPublic Recordโ by Simon Te and Mic Rahman invited visitors to try woodblock printing and contribute to a shared artworkโmaking creativity accessible even to beginners.
Meanwhile, clay workshops led by Jose Solon Perfecto allowed participants to shape their own pieces, connecting them to Filipino table culture and the tactile joy of ceramics.
Even pet lovers found their place in the experience. Inspired by the neighborhoodโs vibrant pet community, activities like pet portraiture and Art Toys PH cat sculptures brought furry companions into the creative fold.
A shared moment, not just an event
More than a lineup of activities, Community Art Grounds became a collective memory.
โEvents like Community Art Grounds donโt just bring art closer. They dissolve the distance between artwork and audience, turning everyday spaces into sites of encounter and exchange,โ Ayni reflects.
What unfolded was not just a program, but a moment of togethernessโfamilies, friends, and even pets creating side by side. It was a reminder that art doesnโt have to be confined to walls or reserved for a select few. It can live in parks, in conversations, and in shared experiences.
