CYO envisions the youth achieving their fullest potential through learning and performing orchestra masterworks. Classic Youth Orchestra is a Cebu-based youth orchestra. It is a creative environment composed of young musicians, ages 13-25, from different social and cultural background. It aims to encourage musical excellence by providing musical training and a variety of performance opportunities
both local and abroad. CYO had its debut performance in May 2014 at the Marcelo B. Since then, the group had more than 100 major performances in different venues within the Philippines. CYO was officially launched on May 29, 2016 at SM Seaside Centerstage with Dr. Ingrid Sala-Santamaria. The following year 2017, CYO embarked on its 1st Concert Season Series. In early 2018, CYO joined the 2nd Youth Orchestra Festival hosted by St. Scholastica’s College. In the same year, CYO performed in Concert At the Park as part of its 40th Anniversary Celebration. Aside from local concerts, some members of the orchestra has received invitation and participated in International Orchestras such as the Thailand Youth Orchestra in Bangkok, Thailand (May 2015), the Gunma Youth Orchestra in Gunma, Japan (October 2015), the Frydek-Mistek Symphonic Orchestra in Ostrava, Czech Republic (April 2016), the International Youth Orchestra Concert for the 80th Birthday Celebration of the Queen of Cambodia in Phnom Penh, Cambodia (June 2016), the 21st International Youth Orchestra Concert in Takasaki City, Japan (August 2016), the World Friendship Orchestra Concert in Musikverein, Vienna Austria and in Danube Palace, Budapest Hungary (March 2019). CYO holds many Outreach Concerts within Cebu Province showcasing local talents and promoting classical music appreciation. CYO firmly believes in making quality music to develop new generations of audiences and appreciation for music. CYO's pursuit for excellence means instilling to students a high degree of professionalism. CYO is founded by Prof. Reynaldo Abellana.
