HUYONG-HUYONG NATURE PARK BACKGROUND
“Huyong- Huyong” is a Cebuano term for quagmire, in Pilipino, it is “kumonoy.” According to a legend, a cow fell into the marshland and the local people had difficulty pulling it out to safety. It was proven that it was not a quagmire but the name Huyong- Huyong remained. family to see Huyong-Huyong be developed into a beautiful site - a place where water lil
ies grow, birds singing, century-old trees, walking trails, a gazebo, prayer garden, and campsite. This dream was always verbalized by everyone during family gatherings. On Nenita's birthday in 2008, initial plans were made to develop a resort with swimming pool and a function hall. We dreamed of having a place for leisure and make it profitable. Captain Corpuz and some Barangay Officials were invited to plant trees in preparation for the development. Mayor Uy saw the beauty and possibilities of the place and even offered suggestions. In our Kapamilya Newsletter 2010 issue, a vision was cast for Kapamilya to level-up and be involved in community service. The vision was set and the target date for reporting will be during the family reunion in 2015. In 2010, Kapamilya met for an organizational meeting. A set of officers were elected, however, the project was incubated, waiting for God's perfect time to start. In 2011, there was a longing of Gideon Ferido, Au Sanchez, Jhun Sanchez. Ralex Garibay and Hazel Garibay to express their desire to win, disciple and train believers in Christ in a neutral ground - a place where they will be free to share whatever spiritual gifts they received from God. This was expressed on the most popular social networking - Facebook. Amy Carino joined the banner. Planning for the project was again revived on January, 2012. As we talked about the prospects of business - about ownership, organization, profit- sharing, capital investments - we found out that each one has his own point of view. It is not wrong, but we have not reached a point wherein we could reconcile ourselves on many and money matters. Then we went back to the origin where we all were united – ministry. As we redirected our focus from profitability to ministry, our spirits became one. We felt that we are more united in ministry than in profitability. And as Matthew 6:33 says: "Seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you”. At the break of dawn on February 25, 2012, groundbreaking of Huyong-Huyong Garden & Campsite was done, led by Pastor Soc Idul and supported by other members of the family, namely: Nenita Ferido , Au Sanchez, Gideon Ferido, Ralex Garibay, Hazel Garibay, Jhun Sanchez, Phoebe Idul, Jun-Jun Ferido, Arthur Ferido and RG Ferido. This was documented by pictures posted by Au on Facebook of said date. The present plan is to develop the place into a site which we can boast as God-given gift (a beautiful one), a place of ministry to show our love and concern for the salvation and spiritual growth of people around us. At the same time, do community activities - that is, love through action. For the community transformation activities, we may use the venue for medical services, feeding ministry, Bible studies, and livelihood programs. We will open the place as venue tor weddings, debuts, birthdays, seminars, conventions, retreats, reunions and camping. We will equip the place with training and seminar materials such as OH Projectors, great sound system, tables and chairs. There will be calendaring of activities to ensure that there will be no overlapping. For ministerial activities, we will be charging a minimal fee for maintenance, water, power and operational expenses; for other activities - weddings, debuts, meetings, conventions, seminars - we will be charging a pre-determined amount to finance our operational expenses and at the same time earn money for further development of the park. We will have a Prayer Retreat on April 8, 2012, Easter Sunday, to recognize God's guidance in the project. God be with us. VISION
