DISCOVER the “Ul’ulun” is a traditional beaded belt ornament worn by Mandaya women, crafted with intricate beadwork and often adorned with small brass bells. The inclusion of brass bells is meaningful—they are believed to ward off negative spirits, offer protection to the wearer, and announce one’s presence during community gatherings and rituals. Through its colors, patterns, and sounds, the Ul’ulun reflects the artistry, spirituality, and heritage of the Mandaya tribe.

This hand-beaded men’s panyo sa leeg is inspired by the traditional Filipino Batok tattoo, featuring patterns that symbolize bravery and identity. It combines cultural heritage with modern style, honoring the ancient art of hand-tapping tattoos showcasing the artistry of Filipino craftsmanship.

This the piece that I’ve worn during the “BIMP-EAGA Trade & Tourism 2025 MUSA Fashion Show”celebrating regional craftsmanship and cultural innovation. A huge thanks to House of Musa for this great opportunity.
