In "Mindset," John Perry Pellejera looks past the surface of his characters to show the tug-of-war between our inner thoughts and the faces we show the world. The golden, oversized masks are a major theme, acting as a "shield" that represents how we use status and pop culture to protect our true, more vulnerable selves. By placing calm faces right next to messy, sharp shapes and graffiti-like scribbles, Pellejera captures the mental noise of living in a fast-paced, digital age. He also explores the idea of growing up, using toy-like sculptures and childhood symbols to show how our early memories are built into our adult identities. Ultimately, the show asks a simple but deep question: are our mindsets truly our own, or are they just a collection of the trends and pressures around us?

The predominantly white pieces by Joel Reglos offer a "Structured Horizon." He utilizes texture and subtle shifts in value to create a sense of three-dimensional space. The white palette forces the viewer to slow down and notice the nuance of shadow and form.

By stripping away the "noise" of color, he invites a more introspective, meditative response, providing a calm, structured finish to the visual journey.

Bea Policarpio’s works serve as the "Elemental Flow" of the "Light & Shade" exhibit. Her use of color is a manifestation of raw energy and the fluid states of nature—land, sea, and sky.

There is a rhythmic quality to the saturation, where deep pigments bleed into softer hues, mimicking the unpredictable patterns of water and light.

They pull the viewer in with a sense of urgency and warmth, representing the chaotic yet beautiful complexity of the natural world.

Rax Bautista’s contributions to the collection offer a profound exploration of texture as a vehicle for emotional and physical depth. Her artistic style is characterized by a heavy, sculptural application of media that transforms the canvas into a topographical map of light and shadow. In her multi-paneled series, these rugged surfaces capture a weathered, organic quality that feels unearthed rather than painted. By playing with metallic lusters and earthy pigments, her work emphasizes the exhibition's theme, proving that light is best understood when it catches the ridges of a complex, tactile landscape.

Binong Javier and Valen Valero offer a captivating study of contrast, where meticulous repetition meets the energy of structured deconstruction. Javier’s expansive canvases utilize thousands of precise, rhythmic points to create a shimmering gradient that shifts between deep shadow and radiant clarity. In dynamic opposition, Valero presents complex compositions of layered geometric fragments and stitched lines that suggest an urban landscape being both built and remembered. Together, their works exemplify the thematic core of the exhibition by exploring how light defines form, whether through the quiet density of a pointillist field or the bold intersections of a graphic collage.

Gari Lopez and Coeli Manese present a compelling dialogue between physical structure and atmosphere, offering two distinct interpretations of the abstract form. Lopez’s works utilize the organic texture of clay and gold accents to create grounded, architectural landscapes that possess a unique tactile presence. In contrast, Manese employs soft, vertical brushstrokes and a muted palette to create airy compositions that feel like quiet, fleeting moments. Together, their pieces balance a dual exploration of material and light, moving seamlessly between the earthy permanence of the sculpted medium and the gentle flow of color.

Chai Soo’s works capture the vibrant beauty of botanical forms through a lens of expressive abstraction, serving as a focal point for the current collection. Her artistic style is defined by a rhythmic use of texture and movement, where heavy impasto and fluid brushstrokes merge to create a sense of floral energy. By exploring her subjects under varying tonal shifts, she masterfully translates the fleeting nature of light into a tactile, emotional experience for the viewer. These paintings invite us to find the harmony between intricate detail and bold color, bridging the gap between literal interpretation and raw, abstract feeling.

The exhibition "Light & Shade" features ten abstract artists who each bring a unique energy and perspective to the gallery walls. Toybits Joaquin leans into a bold, graphic style that feels both modern and industrial, layering strong outlines with bright pops of color to create a sense of movement. On the other hand, Izel Pilapil focuses on a softer approach, using delicate layers and organic shapes to build a light, airy feel that draws the viewer in. Together, these two styles show the balance of the show—one capturing the fast-paced energy of the world and the other offering a moment of quiet and imagination. DM for inquiries.
