I used to hate rainy days— the scent of the street wet with rain, the raindrops on the windowpanes, the look of the sky when it's gloomy along with the cold breeze of the air especially on rainy nights, and the echoing roar of thunder with lightning's sudden flare. When rain falls, the world seems wrapped in sadness, a touch of anger in the air, and a heavy feeling of no hope. The birds that were flying search for shelter. The dogs and cats are trapped on the side of the road. Soaked people walk home from school and work, without umbrellas. It feels like bad luck hangs in the air whenever it rains.
But everything changed the first time I met you on the road, I was soaked by the rain and wrapped in despair. You arrived with a yellow umbrella and offered me shelter in the small space beneath it. In that moment everything turned upside down. The surroundings were suddenly filled with brightness and joy. The rain abruptly stopped, and a glimmer of hope shone from the sky. Butterflies fluttered in my stomach as the rain ceased and the flowers began to bloom. I couldn't explain how I felt that day but you changed everything. I started to like the rainy season and enjoy it with you. You taught me that it's not about the season itself, but about how to embrace the moment.
So, from then on, I learned to embrace my fear, to step out of my comfort zone and dance in the rain without worry or fear. Thank you for coming into my life, for giving me shelter, for bringing color into a blank canvas of my soul, and teaching me to enjoy every season of life. That rainy night, it wasn't just joy and hope I found in the wet road and gloomy sky, but love.
