In Taym Pers 4, ALPAS Art Group extends its inquiry into the cultural and philosophical resonances of childhood games. This time bridging the vernacular play of Filipino youth with the shared heritage of Southeast Asia. Here, traditional games become more than pastimes as they emerge as common languages, mapping kinships across borders long before official unions like ASEAN were imagined.
As the world rushes toward automation and hyper-efficiency, Taym Pers 4 reclaims the child’s body in motion as a site of resilience, imagination, and communal rhythm. From patintero to sepak takraw, the exhibit draws parallels between the spontaneous order of street play and the quiet diplomacy of coexistence. The playing field becomes a stage where ethics are rehearsed, borders are softened, and identity is performed with joy and friction alike.
Through interactive installations, archival interventions, and community storytelling, ALPAS invites viewers to consider how the games of our childhood are not relics, but rehearsals for a more grounded, regional solidarity. In play, as in peace, we learn to move together.
