Resource speaker and visual communication specialist Geri Matthew Carretero (Kurit-Lagting co-founder), underscored the value of creative approaches in tackling complex and often stigmatized issues.

“Visual communication makes difficult topics like STIs, teenage pregnancy, and GBV more accessible and relatable,” Carretero said. “When adolescents create the messages themselves, the result is not only more authentic — it is more powerful and more likely to spark real conversations and positive behavior change.”

We sincerely thank FACE, Inc. and Good Neighbors Philippines – CDP Pto. Diaz, with the support of ChildFund Philippines and the Sorsogon Provincial Government – Sorsogon Provincial Health Office, for giving us the opportunity to take part in “An Pag-Kurit Ulit kan Saradit: A Writeshop on IEC Materials through Visual Communication on Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health.”

We are grateful for the invitation extended to Kurit-Lagting Art Collective and CAP Bicol, represented by Geri Matthew “Choi” Carretero, Allan Abrigo, Gilbert Catabian, and JV Garcia Jr., to contribute to this meaningful initiative. It was truly inspiring to see young people empowered with creative and accessible tools to express their ideas and develop youth-friendly IEC materials.

Kurit-Lagting Art Collective joins the celebration of National Women’s Month

Like these petals floating together, vibrant, resilient, and distinct, women and girls continue to shape communities with courage, creativity, and care.

Each petal tells a story of struggle, solidarity, and the ongoing fight for dignity and equality; a reminder that even amid currents and change, women’s voices and leadership rise, radiant and unyielding. This month, we honor the many ways women nurture life, challenge injustice, and transform the spaces they move through.

Together, we keep the waters moving toward a more just and inclusive future. ✊
