NORSU Art Sanctum Hosts Successful Poster-Making Competition
NORSU Art Sanctum held its much-anticipated Poster-Making Competition 2025 at the campus library this morning, gathering a vibrant display of student creativity and artistic talent. This event served as a platform for students to express their innovative ideas through visual art, aligning with the university’s mission of fostering excellence, creativity, and advocacy in education.
The competition, which ran from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, challenged students to craft impactful posters based on a theme revealed just 30 minutes before the start of the contest. The participants were given the task of creating original artwork on 1/4 illustration boards using pastel colors, pencils, permanent markers, and basic materials such as rulers and cloth. No reference images were allowed, emphasizing the originality and creativity of each piece.
In the end, Hyro Tio Patulin , a BSED Social Studies student, claimed the top spot with his exceptional poster that captured the essence of the competition’s theme with both creativity and relevance. Patulin will now represent Siaton Campus in the Poster Art Competition during the upcoming 2025 NORSU Founders’ Day Celebration.
Josh Paltingca, a third-year student from the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) program, earned the title of 1st Runner-Up, while Carl Stephen Rivera , a first-year student in the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSInt) program, secured the 2nd Runner-Up position. All winners received certificates in recognition of their achievements, while participants were also awarded certificates for their involvement in the competition.
The event was judged based on creativity (30%), relevance to the theme (30%), originality (30%), and artistic impact and presentation (10%).
Overall, the competition not only showcased the students' artistic abilities but also fostered a spirit of healthy competition, confidence, and self-expression, perfectly aligned with NORSU’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values. As the winners celebrated their success, the event also demonstrated the significance of visual arts in advocacy, education, and community engagement.
