Dadaan din ‘to.”

It was a normal Sunday. As soon as I opened my eyes, I thanked God. I also prayed that we be spared from any misfortune and that He protect all our loved ones.

Together with my spouse, we went to attend to our business. As part of our routine, we took care of everything that needed to be done. After that, we stopped by the home of Sec. Katrina C. Ponce-Enrile before heading back.

While driving along C6 in Taguig, right in front of the stoplight, I noticed a cellphone that had fallen from a man who was rushing across the street. No one else saw it, so I quickly got out and picked it up.

A few moments later, a young man on a motorcycle approached and claimed that the phone was his. But I had clearly seen who dropped it, and it wasn’t him. So I asked, “What’s the profile picture? What’s on the lock screen?” He immediately backed off and admitted it wasn’t his.

Since the real owner was already out of sight, we decided to wait for a call. A few minutes later, a woman called it turned out she was the wife of the phone’s owner. At first, she thought her husband was seeing another woman, but once she realized it had just been lost, she laughed in relief and thanked us.

Shortly after, the real owner called using a co-worker’s number. He was clearly nervous. He said he had been rushing to withdraw his salary, which he needed for his family. So we arranged for the phone to be delivered to him via a courier service.

While heading home, it suddenly hit us we hadn’t eaten yet. So we stopped by Mang Inasal.

In front of us was a family: a couple with four small children. They had only ordered one chicken meal with unlimited rice. The kids were eating just rice with soup, but they were all smiling, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company.

Watching them, I couldn’t hold back. I called the waiter and quietly said, “Please send them two more chicken meals with unli rice and drinks.” I also requested not to mention who it came from.

As we were about to leave, we looked back at the family. Their joy had grown even brighter. The father noticed us and gave a heartfelt gesture of thanks. At that moment, I couldn’t help but shed tears.

In silence, I prayed, “Thank You, Lord, for allowing us to be an instrument of help.”

Sometimes, the most ordinary days those we least expect become the most meaningful.

Because it is in every small act of kindness, in every quiet compassion, in every selfless gesture, that we truly become vessels of grace.

It brought back memories of a time when my spouse and I were at our lowest lost, uncertain, and filled with fear. But in the middle of that storm, a friend came into our lives.

She quietly extended her hand not to take over, but to gently guide us with patience and care.

She never gave up on us. And because of her kindness, the light returned, and we found our way again.

That friend is Sec. Katrina Ponce Enrile a leader with a heart, and above all, a friend who supports in quiet, steadfast ways.

In a world where information is readily available at our fingertips, the media's role in shaping public perception has never been more pivotal. As a consumer of news and current affairs, I once placed unwavering trust in the content presented by traditional media outlets. Their engaging and impactful reporting seemed to provide a reliable window into the events unfolding around me. However, this trust has been profoundly shaken as I have witnessed the manipulation and exaggeration of stories within their coverage.

It has become increasingly apparent that many media organizations are more concerned with sensationalism and viewer engagement than with the pursuit of truth. Through their reports, they have a concerning ability to "brainwash" audiences, distorting the reality of situations to suit their own narratives. The consequences of this practice can be severe, as a single upload has the power to tarnish an individual's or institution's reputation, often with disregard for the full context.

Reflecting on a time before the ubiquity of the internet and social media, I am struck by the immense power that traditional media once wielded. They possessed the ability to discredit any entity, regardless of the veracity of the claims made against them. This dynamic transformed the media into a formidable tool of manipulation, as they could shape public opinion with little accountability. Individuals or organizations that found themselves on the receiving end of negative coverage often struggled to defend their reputations, as media outlets could resort to bullying tactics, including the posting of edited videos to further damage their standing.

Sadly, many people remain drawn to the sensationalized narratives presented by traditional media, readily accepting them as fact after a single viewing. This tendency to prioritize emotionally charged content over critical analysis has perpetuated a culture of misinformation, where truth is often obscured by the allure of dramatic storytelling.

However, the landscape has begun to shift with the rise of social media and the emergence of vloggers as the new genuine voices of media. As traditional outlets grapple with declining influence, these independent content creators have carved out a space for themselves, offering a more personal and relatable approach to information sharing. Unlike the perceived distance and impersonality of traditional media, vloggers have the ability to connect with their audiences on a deeper level,
