Pamagdake atbp. plans to make 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗸𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲𝘅, a "Phygital" (Physical + Digital) heritage project and sensory book designed to preserve the fading oral history and faith behind the Sanikulas cookie.

This project helps the younger generation move beyond seeing Sanikulas as a mere souvenir. We aim to decode the prayers and devotion carved into the Yakal, Mahogany, and Molave molds, transforming passive consumption into active cultural understanding.

𝑫𝒂𝒚 𝟒: 𝑭𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒐𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒅 𝒄𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒄𝒉.

We split our forces to document how the devotion to Saint Nicolas manifests in different corners of the province.

While one half of the team explored the quiet, grassroots devotion in the chapels of Arayat and Santa Ana, the other half stood amidst the history of the South, documenting the enduring faith at San Agustin (Lubao) and the sunken San Guillermo (Bacolor).

Whether in a grand parish or a roadside chapel, the presence of the Saint remains constant. The map is almost ready to be completed.

𝑾𝒆 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒍𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒍𝒅𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑵𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒉. 𝑻𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚, 𝒘𝒆 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒍𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉.

Day 3 brought us to Macabebe, where the Sanikulas is baked by the church and has miraculous stories

We didn't stop there! We mapped the devotion across Guagua, Lubao, and Sasmuan, proving that the spirit of Saint Nicolas de Tolentino flows through the veins of the entire province.

Yesterday, we formally met up with the Sanikulas Business owners and their bakers in Mexico, Pampanga. Learning their deep history of family devotion, faith, and history.

It is easy to get lost in the flavor of the cookie and forget the face of the Saint stamped upon it. To understand the Sanikulas tradition in Mexico Pampanga, we had to go back to where it all began: the Church.

Dakal pung salamat 𝐒𝐢𝐫 𝐉𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐑. 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐛𝐚𝐧, Liturgist of Sta. Monica Parish, for sitting down with us today. His insights on the religious origins of the Sanikulas cookie gave us the spiritual context we needed for the Sanikulas Codex.
