ALLEGORY OF THE FLYING ROOF and KARANIWANG TAO 2 present two complementary facets of 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐲 𝐕. 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐧’𝐬 storytelling - one rooted in introspection, the other in the pulse of everyday life.

In 𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐎𝐑𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐋𝐘𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐑𝐎𝐎𝐅, a young figure occupies an attic-like space filled with objects of memory and creation. The hovering red balloon and exposed, skeletal roof evoke imagination, aspiration, and the quiet process of becoming - an inner world suspended between childhood and self-discovery. In contrast, 𝐊𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐀𝐎 𝟐 unfolds within a crowded urban scene, where a solitary figure moves through the flow of daily life. Amid the density of people, the work draws attention to the individuality and inner narratives that exist within the “ordinary.”

Together, these paintings reflect Ambagan’s ability to bridge the personal and the collective, revealing meaning both in solitude and in shared experience.

A meaningful and inspiring opening reception for MAY Expressions, the group exhibit of 𝐐𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐂𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐬 last May 11, 2026.

Our sincere gratitude to 𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐫 𝐉𝐨𝐲 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞 and 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐲 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚 for gracing the ribbon-cutting ceremony and for their continued support of the local art community.

In 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤 (𝟏𝟗𝟔𝟑), Lee Aguinaldo channels the raw energy of abstraction through expressive splatters, layered gestures, and restless movement inspired by Jackson Po***ck. The work feels spontaneous yet deeply emotional, drawing viewers into its rhythm of chaos and creativity.

By contrast, 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐮𝐧 (𝟏𝟗𝟔𝟑) offers a quieter and more contemplative atmosphere. Thick textures, muted greens, and subtle bursts of red create an almost dreamlike landscape - mysterious, reflective, and open to interpretation.

Together, these two works reveal Aguinaldo’s remarkable ability to balance movement and stillness, intensity and restraint, within the language of abstraction.
