An open letter to those who feel left behind just because their achievements are not as big as those of their peers:
You always hear or read that life is not a race, and while you try your best to accept it, you also can’t deny that you find it hard to believe it. If life is not a race, why do you feel left behind already? If life is not a competition, why are some people already winning while you feel constantly failing? You don’t know anymore why luck never visited you.
I know others will tell you not to feel bad about it and redirect your focus to the positive side of life, but I will tell you to feel what you feel. You have been told to do so many things in life that you already learned to hide what you really feel inside. I want you to be honest with yourself. If you feel sad because you feel left behind, let yourself be sad. If you feel exhausted, let yourself feel exhausted and take a rest. If you feel bad about it, you don’t have to pretend everything is fine. But one thing to keep in mind is that, despite feeling that the world moves ahead, you will keep going. One day, you will realize that feeling left behind in life taught you to be patient, resilient, determined, and humble. One day, you will realize that feeling left behind in life trained you in ways that being ahead couldn’t. One day, you will realize you are not left behind anymore because decided to keep going.
