Some people ask what a Guiguil session is like.

Most days are simple. We gather, tune our guitars, and start playing together. Sometimes we learn songs. Sometimes we experiment with sounds. Sometimes we just listen and enjoy the moment.

There is no pressure to perform. Everyone joins at their own pace.

If you have been thinking about joining, you may fill out the membership form through the link below so we can get to know you better.

Membership is now open.

Guiguil is a student guitar community based at the UP College of Music where people come together to play, listen, and experience music in a welcoming and supportive space. Since 2013, the group has grown into a community shaped by shared curiosity, collaboration, and care for music and for each other.

We are welcoming new members this semester.

You do not need to be a music major, and you do not need to be advanced. If you enjoy playing guitar or simply being part of a musical community, you are welcome here.

Weekly sessions are held at UP Diliman College of Music.

If you would like to join, please send us a message.

We look forward to making music with you.

When people play music together, something changes.

Conversations happen without words. The atmosphere becomes lighter. People feel supported.

Guiguil hopes to create spaces where students can pause, reconnect, and find comfort through music.

Sometimes we all need a space where things slow down a little.

Where nobody’s chasing deadlines or cramming for a performance.

Just a little air between the notes.

Under the direction of Ms. Thea Tolentino, Registered Music Therapist, Guiguil treats music as something to be lived in, not displayed. It’s a place to sit with sound and with each other.

We value curiosity over perfection.

A willingness to show up, learn, and jam with whoever’s in the room. Then let the music do what it’s always done best: bring people together and keep them there for a while. ❤
