About The Artists:
JOHANAN EUNICE LIVIOCO, violinist
Johanan Eunice LIvioco (usually known as Eunice or Netssie) graduated with a Bachelor’s in Music, Major in Violin (Cum Laude) from the UP College of Music in June 2016. She’s been playing the violin, piano, and singing in church with her family ever since she was 5 years old. Upon graduation, she decided to pursue another career - User Experience Design. She then pursued a Master’s degree in Web & Multimedia Design in New York City at the Touro College Graduate School of Technology. She graduated from the said degree in June 2019 and was selected to be the student speaker amongst hundreds of graduates at their commencement ceremony at Lincoln Center David Geffen Hall (home of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra). Today, she is working as a Project Lead in Erdos Technologies (a tech consulting company in New York City), and continues to play the violin, piano, as well as leads the choir in her church in Manhattan. In her spare time, she pursues her hobbies in photography and making short films.
CYD TUMPALAN, percussionist
Cyd Tumpalan graduated with a Bachelor’s in Music, Major in Percussion from the UP College of Music. He was a member of the Metro Manila Concert Orchestra and also played occasionally with San Miguel Philharmonic Orchestra, Manila Symphony Orchestra, etc. He got selected to join the Asian Youth Orchestra twice where he got to perform in Japan, Hong Kong, Beijing, among others. Shortly after, Cyd moved to Hong Kong to work for the Hong Kong Disneyland Band as Lead Percussionist. He was later offered a full ride scholarship and teaching assistantship at the University of Massachusetts where he studied with professor Ayano Kataoka for his Master of Music degree. He got to perform at the McCormick Marimba Festival in Tampa, Florida and attended PASIC where he attended workshops and masterclasses from Raymond Curfs (Timpani), Jason Ginter, Frederic Macarez, and Joseph Petrasek. Among his other teachers were Thom Giampietro, Sandbox Percussion, and Thom Hannum. He recently led a talk at the Percussive Arts Society Philippines Chapter and he actively serves in the music ministry of Heritage Baptist Church in NYC and is a faculty at Play It Forward School of Music and Nutley School of Music.
JOANNA RUTH LIVIOCO-TUMPALAN, violinist
Joanna Ruth Livioco-Tumpalan graduated with a Bachelor’s in Music, Major in Violin (Cum Laude) from the UP College of Music in June 2009. As a young violinist, she became a NAMCYA prize winner and also got selected to perform with the Asian Youth Orchestra twice. She was a member of the Manila Symphony Orchestra, and later on, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra’s Assistant Concert Master and was also a featured soloist. She won international grants and scholarships that allowed her to join festivals abroad such as the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival. She got a full ride scholarship with a teaching assistantship to the University of Massachusetts where she became a member of the Graduate String Quartet and got to occasionally perform as concertmaster for the Opus One orchestra (a conductor-less orchestra). She has bagged awards from competitions such as Concert Artists International, New York International Concours, and American Protege International Strings Competition (where she got none less than 1st place). She has played with orchestras such as Vermont Symphony Orchestra (under Jaime Laredo) among others and has performed in prestigious concert venues such as Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in New York City as soloist, chamber musician, and orchestra. Recently, she has been awarded the Ani ng Dangal Award from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. Aside from performing, Ruth currently holds a studio of 40+ students who are also successfully winning auditions in orchestras (such as New Jersey Symphony Youth Orchestra), winning international competitions (such as Vivo International Competition) and has performed prestigious concert halls around the world.

MusiKaakbay: Musika at Bayanihan is an online fundraising concert series featuring students, alumni, and performing groups from the UP College of Music for the benefit of the students and staff of the College, the University Health Service, and the medical frontliners.
