Villancico Vocal Ensemble

Villancico Vocal Ensemble The Villancico Vocal Ensemble is the official performing Arm of the Junior Philippine Conductors Ass Palaruan.

The Villancico Vocal Ensemble is a group of choral music enthusiasts founded in 2009 by the Junior Music Eductors Guild of U.P. Diliman College of Music under the baton of conductor Eudenice V. It formed out of spontaneous music-making during leisure time, which eventually turned out to be an established nonprofit singing group. It is mainly composed of student conductors, professional musicians,

and active members from various university and church choirs. Their repertoire primarily centres on early music, Bach motets, and works from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. The Villancico Vocal Ensemble performs regularly in the International Bamboo Organ Festival along with the Musica Sofia and guest artists from abroad. The 42nd International Bamboo Organ Festival held last February 16 – 22, 2017, premieres its first performance as the Junior Philippine Conductors Association’s performing arm, under the musical directorship of Dr. Beverly Shangkuan-Cheng. The Villancico Vocal Ensemble continues to uphold its mandate to perform choral music in its highest standard and to make it accessible to its growing audience.

BACH CANTATA ONLINE CONCERT

We are inviting you to Bach Cantata Online Concert! June 17 (Wednesday) is the day when the Malaysia Bach Festival Singers and Orchestra would be performing at the St. Thomas Church during Bachfest Leipzig - a concert tour which we have been looking forward and in the planning for two years. Since the tour is now postponed to 2022, we have spent the last two months to produce a special virtual performance of the entire cantata "Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland", BWV 62, one of the three cantatas which we were going to perform in Leipzig. We hope that you will enjoy this very special online concert, which also includes special features "the making of" and a visit to the Bach-Archiv Leipzig to look at the original manuscripts of Bach's cantatas. Bachfest Malaysia has lost at least RM20,000 due to the cancellation of this trip, mainly on non-refundable deposit on airfare. We hope that those who are able will consider to support us during this challenging time. Any amount are welcome, and we will be ever grateful for your partnership and trust in our works as we continue to make quality music accessible to all.
