Twin Bill Theater is an independent theatre company existing to stir minds for constructive societal revolution utilizing theatre as means for formal dialogue and intellectual in*******se foregrounding current and socially relevant issues that continue to plague the human condition

. We aspire for national and international collaboration and cultural exchange as we thrive to reach Filipino audiences locally, nationally and globally. In 2018, Twin Bill Theater became a bonafide member of PHILSTAGE – a nationally recognized organization of live performing arts companies that exist to protect, promote and unite the professional mainstream Philippine theatre industry. Twin Bill Theater was founded by twin brothers Joseph and Francis Matheu in 2012. It was in 2016 that the opportunity for the twins to produce plays commenced -presenting critically acclaimed productions mirroring different human conditions. Francis was recently awarded the degree of MFA in Directing by the Department of Theatre of the University of Victoria in British Columbia. He is set to direct Malou Jacob’s monodrama Pepe in September as part of Theatre Inconnu’s (Victoria’s longest-producing alternative theatre company) 2023 theatre season, and Twin Bill Theater’s mission to bring Pamana Colleciton to the world. PAMANA COLLECTION:
Pamana Collection aims to champion Filipino plays and playwrights with objectives to protect and promote Filipino history and culture through devised original theater works with the 2nd and 3rd generation Filipino migrants as our main target audience. Through this program, we aspire to utilize the arts to empower marginalized Filipinos by providing them the opportunity to engage in local, national and international cultural collaborations. FIND YOUR LIGHT:
Find Your Light is the training program of Twin Bill Theater. Through this program we reach out to various educational institutions and independent groups offering workshops in performance and technical theatre. FIND YOUR LIGHT - LOCKED AND LOADED:
Find Your Light : Locked and Loaded is an online streaming tutorial initiative of Twin Bill Theater during the Enhanced Community Quarantine. This initiative was launched via Open House on April 20, 2020 when Twin Bill Theater was invited to stream an interactive talk on Basic Lighting Design+ as part of the fund raising campaign for the performing arts community. The initiative continued with two other online programs - Intro to Acting+ and Mental Health+

Ladies and Gentlemen, I introduce to you the director of Ducks at the Victoria Fringe Festival this year -- Francis G. Matheu!

Francis is an emerging Filipino theatre artist from Manila. He debuted as a director/actor in North America with Theatre Inconnu’s production of Pepe in 2023. In the Philippines, he was deeply involved in Manila’s dynamic theatre industry, collaborating with notable companies. Francis’ extensive background includes appearing in over 50 plays and musicals and directing (or choreographing) 15 cantatas, 11 plays, and 11 musicals including Grease, I Love You, Because, Children of Eden, The Wedding Singer, Lysistrata, A Christmas Carol, and Dancing Lessons.

Francis co-founded Twin Bill Theater in Manila in 2013 serving as its Managing and Artistic Director/Producer until 2021.

In Victoria, Francis directed Now and Then (Langham Court Theatre,) Animal Farm (Lawyers On Stage Theatre Society,) and Vinegar Tom (Phoenix Theatre). He was co-creative collaborator for the Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria’s production of im:print 2024 and was Assistant Director of Much Ado About Nothing (Greater Victoria Shakespeare Festival,) Misery (2023) and Hedda Gabler (2022 Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre.) He appeared in Blue Bridge Theatre’s The Shop Around the Corner in 2024.

Francis was Intrepid Theatre and Puente Theatre’s ConVerge 2024 artist in residence. He is a co-artistic collaborator for the Bayanihan Creative Collective and a board member of Theatre SKAM, Between Words Theatre, and The Greater Victoria Theatre Collective Association.

Francis was one of the 30 cohorts in the 2025 Directors Lab North in Toronto and will be one of the five participants in this year’s Arts Leadership Training Program of Cset URegina in partnership with Persephone Theatre and the Belfry Theatre.

Francis is committed to advancing his career in Canadian mainstream theatre- pushing artistic boundaries to engage a broader international audience while contributing to the ever-evolving Canadian theatre landscape with his Asian artistic perspective.

Francis holds an MFA in Directing from the University of Victoria.
