Conducted by Josefino Chino Toledo, the program follows a single thread: how composers reshape the music they inherit. It opens with three reworkings of Bach - Stokowski's ๐๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ข๐ญ๐ฆ ๐ง๐ณ๐ฐ๐ฎ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ข๐ด๐ต๐ฆ๐ณ ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐ต๐ข๐ต๐ข, Hindemith's ๐๐ข๐จ๐ต๐ช๐ฎ๐ฆ, and Toledo's world premiere of ๐๐ข๐ค๐ฉ-๐๐ข๐ค๐ฉ-'๐๐ฐ๐ฉ. The second half turns to the late Romantic era, moving from the warmth of Reineckeโs ๐๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ค๐ฆ๐ณ๐ต๐ฐ ๐ง๐ฐ๐ณ ๐๐ญ๐ถ๐ต๐ฆ ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐๐ณ๐ค๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ด๐ต๐ณ๐ข, ๐๐ฑ. 283, featuring BALIK-UPSO artist Mark Kenedy Rocas as flute soloist, to the sweeping drama of Tchaikovskyโs ๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐บ ๐๐ฐ. 4 ๐ช๐ฏ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ช๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ณ, ๐๐ฑ. 36 to close the evening.
Across the program, old and new sit side by side: the masters reimagined, the Romantic orchestra at full voice, and music that keeps changing shape long after it was written.
