UP SAMASKOM is the premier academic-performing organization from the UP College of Media and Communication. (And Istoryang Dinebelop ng Samaskom).

Diversity and distinction -- that is what we aim for and embrace in UP Samahan ng mga Mag-aaral sa Komunikasyon. UP SAMASKOM is a duly-recognized university wide academic-performing organization housed by the College of Mass Communication. Since its foundation in 1974, the org has been a family for students from all walks of the university, who have a passion for communication and self-expression.

UP SAMASKOM organizes a variety of events all through out the academic year, such as digital productions, statements and webinars on pertinent media issues, and an annual comedy variety show, Live A.I.D.S. These activities aim to develop the creativity and discipline of its members, and also help give the Samaskomers a hands-on training on events management, performing, writing, directing, marketing and publicity, production and costume design, and many more.

𝐀𝐍𝐆 𝐔𝐏 𝐒𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐒𝐊𝐎𝐌 𝐀𝐘 𝐍𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐍 𝐍𝐀 𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐓 𝐀𝐍𝐆 𝐇𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐒𝐘𝐀 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐀 𝐒𝐀 𝐓𝐎𝐁𝐎𝐒𝐎 𝟏𝟗!

Noong ika-19 ng Abril, nagkaroon ng kaharasan dulot ng 9th Infantry Battalion of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) sa Toboso, Negros Occidental. Ang mga militarisasyong ito ay isang madilim at madugong manipestasyon ng pasismo sa ating bansa. Umabot sa 19 ang mga nasawi at kabilang dito ang lider-estudyanteng si Alyssa Alano, ang estudyanteng-organisador si Maureen Santuyo, ang peryodistang si RJ Ledesma, at ang mananaliksik na si Errol Wendel. Sila ay mga martir ng ating bayan na kumakayod sa pakikitungo at pakikibaka para makatulong sa ating masa, magsasaka, at mga maharnalisadong komunidad na binibigyang pugay namin.

Ang militarisasyon sa Negros ay matagal nang nangyayari lalo na’t dahil sa ipinatupad na Memorandum Order No. 32 ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kung saan tinawag niyang nasa estado ng “lawless violence” ang Samar, Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental, at Bicol. Sinasabi nila na ito ay para protektahan ang mga inosenteng sibilyan sa mga armadong aktibidad, pero naaabuso na ang kapangyarihang ito at nagdudulot na ito ng hindi makatwirang karahasan.

Dito sa UP SAMASKOM, nakikisalamuha kami sa dalamhating dulot ng pangyayaring ito. Masidhing paniniwala namin na walang lugar ang pasismo at karahasan sa mga pakikibaka para sa karapatan ng mga maharnalisado. Kami ay nananawagan para sa hustisya para sa Toboso 19, at tuloy-tuloy namin dadalhin ang taos-pusong diwa nila sa pakikibaka para sa sambayanan.
