The defense of the West Philippine Sea is not a battle fought with weapons alone. It is fought through truth, memory, and the collective voice of a nation.
This mural is our declaration.
At the center stands the future: a Filipino child crowned in a salakot. Strapped across his chest is a bandolier of crayons, a striking reminder that art is a weapon of peace, capable of piercing through propaganda and empowering a people without a single shot fired. Through his binoculars, we look past the horizon to envision a sea defined by dignity, not dominance.
Beside them, a colossal pencil strikes through the fictitious nine-dash line. This act of erasure does more than enforce the 2016 UNCLOS Arbitral Award. By wiping away this fabricated claim, the mural visually unlocks the vibrant marine sanctuary beneath. It is a defiant reminder that erasing this line is what allows our fishermen to cast their nets freely, reclaiming the ecological wealth and livelihood that are undeniably ours.
Flanking the child are the true sentinels of our shores: the unyielding fisherman and the steadfast Navy serviceman. They are monuments to daily sacrifice and resilience against intimidation. Beneath them, the waters burst with vibrant marine life, the ecological lifeblood of our country and the very reason these waters must be safeguarded.
Bathed in the light of the sun and three stars, this mural is more than paint on a wall. It is an inheritance. It is a vow that the seas our children inherit will remain fiercely, undeniably ours.
