Alas, that after a long time of being absent, I am happy to give you guys some update!
Today, we celebrate the solemnity of the patronage of St. Thomas Aquinas, especially over Catholic Schools and intellectual pursuits as such promoted by His Holiness Pope Leo XIII through his brief Cum Hoc Sit, which is feast was established on the 13th of November in 1924 by the benevolent Dominican order of the very patron.
Having said that, I am most pleased to release an enhanced digital painting of St. Thomas Aquinas which I made—the one shared by . Bartholomew Parish of Calayan Island and the Dominican Province of the Philippines
The painting, using the Hispanoamerican rococo style, explicitly depicts Aquinas in academic and heavenly regalia (wearing the rosary according to the Hispanic Dominican Province of Our Lady of the Rosary of missions) and his miraculous victory over fighting the temptations of lust with the guide of angels, bestowing him a 15-knot chastity cord of victory (the time when he was imprisoned by his family and was seduced by a pr******te). As shown in the novena of Thomas Aquinas from the Rosary Knights, this clearly shows the link of purity with a clear, calm, and peaceful mind towards being busy, striving and eventually to intellectual pursuits.
Besides him above are the other patrons of the Rosary Knights, viz. Virgin Mary with the child Jesus of Bambang and the holy father Cyril of Alexandria, who is his fellow complement and Church Doctor. The painting depicts inspiration of the unique landscape of Bicolandia with Mt. Mayon and Mt. Isarog, given the heritage of the artist and the Dominican presence and missions in Bicolandia since the Spanish period. Oddly enough, the configuration of the elements seem to parallel the coin currency of the American colonial period and the Commonwealth area—but I clarify that there is no intended connection at, except perhaps the configuration as made by Melencio Figueroa (because of its beauty).
In line with the Hispanic and Filipino rococo style paintings during that historical period, the painting has a 100-day indulgenced prayer inscription of "O Beato Thoma" by Pope Leo XIII in Latin and "Honour of Preachers, O Glorious Thomas Aquinas" from his famous gozos from Spain. Together, with the heraldric marks of the Rosary Knights (the client of this work) and the coat of arms of the artist.
+O Blessed Thomas, patron of schools, obtain for us from God an invincible faith, burning charity, a chaste life, and true knowledge, through Christ our Lord. Amen!
