The best band to come from Liverpool this side of The Beatles, 'Killing Time' hitmakers Echo and The Bunnymen have one of the most decorated back catalogues of any guitar band of the past half a century. Ill content to rest on past glories, Ian McCulloch and co. are back with their first album of newly-written material in 12 years (2014's Meteorites being the last). The release is bittersweet given that Clem Burke of Blondie, who is on drums for ten of the 11 tracks sadly passed away during the making of the record. The band are on striking form with lead single 'Brussels Is Haunted' sounding like an instant classic and perfect for their live set. Well worth the 12 year wait given they're reaching these heights with their songs.

U2 return with their new album, “Carnaval De Luz.” The band’s 16th studio album will be released on November 13, 2026, and features the first new material from Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. in nine years. Produced by Jacknife Lee, the twelve songs combine experimental soundscapes with the grand, unmistakable songwriting U2 have represented for decades. Thematically, “Carnaval De Luz” explores spirituality, friendship, and freedom—as well as the question of how to preserve hope in increasingly dark times. The album was created during the same creative period as the EPs “Days of Ash” and “Easter Lily,” released in early 2026, and continues their musical ideas. In addition to Rosalía, Dolly Parton also appears on the album, contributing her final recorded vocal performance. Further support comes from longtime collaborators and new creative partners: Brian Eno contributed as a co-writer and played synthesizers, Martin Garrix co-wrote “Glorify,” Daniel Lanois plays pedal steel on “Torn,” and Ryan Tedder contributed additional production to “Silencio.” “Carnaval De Luz” is available for pre-order now.

Soft Cell's Danceteria takes its name from one of New York's most infamous nightspots, though thankfully there's no requirement to queue outside in the rain wearing questionable knitwear before listening. This album serves as both a love letter to the city that helped shape Marc Almond and Dave Ball during the early 80s and a farewell to Ball himself, who completed the record shortly before his death, and fittingly, it sounds like Soft Cell. 'Times Square' and the title track dive headfirst into nocturnal excess, then 'The Rainbow Room' and 'After Hours' linger until morning. A final chapter from one of British synthpop's most distinctive partnerships, and a surprisingly elegant one at that.
