Personal encounter with an American Crow 🐦‍⬛ in Death Valley. Whether it’s an omen or not is a matter of belief, Mr. Crow seemed far less interested in symbolism and far more interested in a simple, early morning stretch.

This is the perfect day to share this painting.

“Harpactas ardens”, acrylic on canvas, 16 x 16 inches, signed Kestrel Reyes 2025. A commissioned work.

Excerpt from my previous post:

“Ibong Adarna – as local birders heavily associate it with the Philippine Trogon (Harpactes ardens). However, the mythical bird is considered an archetype in European folklore and may suggest a common Indo-European mythic heritage transmitted across time and space through cultural diffusion. Such mythical motifs evolved independently in different regions but bear striking resemblances. It spans striking uncanny events with the Russian “The Firebird” and the German “The Golden Bird” and “The Water of Life”. The Philippines, being a Southeast Asian crossroads, could have had interactions with other cultures, including Indian, Arabic, and even early European sources, which might have shaped its mythology.”

The color of longing - because desire is filled with endless distances.

I am excited to share my limited-edition handmade cyanotypes (sunprints). These prints are archival and hand-signed, with a unique ID assigned to each print. The images were captured by me, as well as some taken by my father. I personally developed each print, experimenting with different weather conditions to create them naturally, rather than using a UV lamp (I had had enough of UV-lamp experiments during my graduate school research).

These prints are now available for purchase. Please send me a message to claim, reserve a print, or make a special request.

Super duper had a blast yesterday! Thank YOU so much, friends and fam, for the love and support 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 I got to meet new friends and finally connect in person with online art friends! I can’t stress enough how overwhelming it was but in the best way. One day honestly isn’t enough to meet all the fellow artists and learn from their processes.

Thank you, Mr. Hendrick Samson, for organizing such a lovely event. I might say this is going to be my booth highlight for the first half of the year ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
