Gravity Art Space

Gravity Art Space A space for emerging and established artists of Philippine contemporary art.

Gravity Art Space (GAS) is a space for contemporary art founded by artist Indy Paredes in 2021. It is situated along Mother Ignacia Avenue in Quezon City, a city that is home to a dynamic community of artists, art workers, and art supporters. The word GRAVITY in the space's name speaks to the weight it grants to artistic process and how this is grounded by the collaborative relationships between t

he space, artists, curators, and its public. Just like the force of gravity, while these aspects of exhibition-making and programming are not always remarked, they are always part of its consideration and what makes the space's existence possible and its programs worthwhile. Working with a network of co-artists and colleagues of his generation, Gravity Art Space aims to become a collaborative space for companions and contemporaries and a hub for productive discussions, exhibitions, and discoveries in art.

Kapag Tapos Na ang Paniniwala at Alaala
When Belief and Memory Have Been Exhausted

Gravity Art Space presents a group exhibition that reflects on what remains when belief loosens and memory begins to blur. The exhibition moves past ideas of loss or collapse and focuses instead on relation, presence, and shared attention as places where meaning continues to form.

Anchored in UGNAYAN, the works gathered here move through belief, memory, labor, and care. Collage, photography, objects, and crafted forms sit together as remembered things, carrying traces of lived conditions and quiet devotion. Meaning emerges through proximity, encounter, and the way one work leans toward another.

Featuring works by:
Jet Leyco (PH)
Jose Tence Ruiz (PH)
Octo Cornelius (ID)
Isha Naguiat (PH)
Marketa Kolarova (CZ)
13th Sheep (TH)

February 4 – March 4, 2026
2611 Lamayan Street, Sta. Ana, Manila

This exhibition invites staying, looking, and being with one another when belief and memory no longer anchor us.

The space stayed active throughout the evening, with artists, collaborators, and visitors moving between exhibitions and spending time with the works at their own pace.

The opening also featured a live performance by Khavn with Babel Gun, presented at GAS ahead of its upcoming run in Rotterdam, adding a one-time moment that unfolded alongside the exhibitions.

Our current exhibitions are now open:

Gravity Art Space opens a constellation of new exhibitions that move across satire, intimacy, material inquiry, and instinctive form-making.

From political allegory and poetic observation to sculptural hair works and curatorial research, these exhibitions unfold as parallel conversations, each grounded in process and lived experience. Together, they reflect how artists respond to the present moment through humor, care, critique, and imagination.

Join us for the opening reception and spend the evening moving through works that ask, observe, and quietly insist on being felt.

Wonderful Femininities expounds traditional gender norms by extending alternative narratives of feminine experiences through personal acts of rebellion, which reveal agency, autonomy, and vulnerability. In this dynamic understanding of the Filipino woman’s experience, the interplay of female bodies manifests as portals expressed in the works of Arianna Bongato, Ana, Bea Fernandez, and Laki Mata.

In Basia Sliwinska’s text “Female Body in the Looking Glass,” these Filipina herstories on canvas are transformed into powerful subjects and objects that challenge the myths imposed by society, in a way that frequently dictates the roles of women as binary in nature. Sliwinska’s concept of Genderland from her book imagines the female body as abundant and expansive rather than mirroring a bipolar thinking that typically objectifies the female form through a gaze often cast upon it by an other. Instead, it encourages an engagement with diverse visual interpretations that celebrate complexity.

Wonderful Femininities is an undergraduate thesis project of Cyrene Victoria Cacdac from the Art Management Program of the Department of Fine Arts, Ateneo de Manila University. The exhibit is part of Metamorphosis– a series of public programs by AB AM Batch 2026.

In partnership with Art Management Morning Projects, Gravity Art Space, and Tay and Victoria Ng Foundation.

WIGS BY MARGAUX

An exhibition that treats hair as instinct, gesture, and form.
Wigs by Margaux is a study in freedom and intuitive making. Each piece is created through free styling, with no references, no borrowed ideas, no mood boards. What emerges instead is the raw movement of imagination translated directly into texture, shape, and presence. The work resists trends and rules, allowing emotion and impulse to lead the process.

Every wig captures a moment of unfiltered creativity, bold yet intimate, deliberate yet unrestrained. Read together, the works feel like visual improvisations, proving that hair can exist as sculpture, as expression, and as something deeply personal when the artist allows creativity to flow without interruption.

MGA OBRANG HORS DE COMBAT Job Abednego David

Gravity Art Space is pleased to present Mga Obrang Hors de Combat, the first solo exhibition of Job Abednego David. The exhibition traces nearly a decade of artistic inquiry shaped by lived experience, memory, and sustained inner work. Moving between narrative and introspection, the paintings unfold as sites of transformation where personal history is neither erased nor dramatized, but patiently reworked.

David’s practice reflects on change as a quiet, ongoing labor. Themes of healing, reintegration, and deradicalization surface not as conclusions, but as processes still in motion. The works hold moments of reflection and rupture side by side, marking both a culmination of long-term exploration and the opening of a new chapter in the artist’s practice.
We warmly invite you to join us for the opening and to experience this body of work alongside our concurrent exhibitions.

PEERING THROUGH THE FIRMAMENT A Solo Exhibition by Arvie Desamparado

Gravity Art Space presents Peering Through the Firmament, a solo exhibition by Arvie Desamparado. The works operate within states of looking and sensing, where attention drifts beyond surface and structure. They explore thresholds, not as barriers, but as permeable spaces where material, gesture, and perception quietly intersect.

Desamparado’s practice engages with space as both physical and metaphysical. Forms appear suspended, layered, and unsettled, holding moments of pause rather than resolution. Meaning unfolds through duration and proximity, allowing the works to be encountered as open fields of reflection rather than fixed narratives.

Opening Reception: January 23, 6 PM Gravity Art Space Mother Ignacia Ave., Diliman, Quezon City
