My art piece, "๐•ƒ๐•’๐•ž๐•š๐•˜๐•’๐•Ÿ", is currently on display at Angkla Art Gallery as part of Grupo Sabado's annual group exhibition, Pagdiriwang: Angono in the Spotlight! ๐Ÿ–ผ๐ŸŽจ

About the Pieces:

Lamigan depicts plastic containers in a row, filled with mango juice, chocolate gulaman, and gulaman. It's inspired by the regular sight of bottles of lamigan lining food stalls in Angono, which is a prominent part of our culture, as well as a cherished memory from my childhood.

In the painting they are encased within icecubes, in which symbols of Angono like the Higantes and our Angono Petroglyphs are carved. It's a depiction of one of the most universal sights in Angono wherever you can find food stalls

About the Pieces:

"Basaan sa kapistahan ni San Clemente"
One of the oldest traditions held during the Feast of San Clemente in Angono, Rizal, is the "Basaan", where a group of kids would douse water to each other, or towards the long line of parade as a form of celebration. The artist particularly captured this tradition because it allows people of all ages to participate and enjoy themselves. It also evokes a sense of childhood nostalgia, reminding people of the joy of celebrating one's own culture.

"San Clemente"
The painting depicts the image of San Clemente being paraded by volunteers and adorned with florals in the midst of the fiesta. The people of Angono revere and rejoice in their patron saint, that is often regarded as one of the symbols of their Catholic faith and a source of hope and inspiration to live according to Godโ€™s teachings.

Ang aking likhang sining na pinamagatang โ€œSa Ilalim ng Kapa ni San Clementeโ€ ay sumisimbolo sa pagkakaisa ng bayan ng Angono sa ilalim ng pananampalataya at gabay ng kanilang patron na si San Clemente.

Sa kanyang kapa ay makikita ang ibaโ€™t ibang tradisyon, kapistahan, at mga gawaing nagpapakita ng makulay na kultura ng mga taga Angono . Ipinapakita ng kapa ang pagiging simbolo ng pagkalinga at proteksiyon ni San Clemente sa kanyang bayan.

Sa pamamagitan ng mga tradisyong ito, naipapakita na ang kultura at pananampalataya ay magkaugnay at patuloy na nagbibigay ng pagkakakilanlan, pagkakaisa, at pag-asa sa mamamayan ng Angono.
