“The time has come, Bolipata said, “to Talk of many things: of Posca Paints, Lithographies and Dreams beyond the Sea.”
- Plet Bolipata
This collection chronicles a transformative period of discovery sparked by an unexpected trip to New York City in early 2025. Returning to the city decades after her initial studies at the Art Students League, Bolipata balances a sense of duty with a reinvigorated creative energy, centering her recent work on the spontaneity of Posca acrylic markers and the rigorous discipline of lithography.
Featured Works:
Childhood Reflections: Three canvases exploring her upbringing alongside musical prodigies and her sisters.
The Kahlo-Rivera Series: Three oval canvases framed in patterned cloth that imagine a life shared with Frida Kahlo, whom she views as a kindred spirit regarding personal narrative, fertility struggles, and the journey of emerging from a spouse’s artistic shadow.
The NYC Accordion Notebooks: A documentary-style of notebooks filled during her brief but intense “escape” to the city.
Ultimately, this exhibition serves as a bold, unapologetic snapshot of an artist fine-tuning her voice through new mediums, proving that the creative journey is one of constant evolution and “new tricks.”
